REMINDER:  Not everything in the paper bulletin is in this e-bulletin. Please pickup a paper bulletin at Mass so you don't miss information.
My dear Parish Family,

First of all, I want to thank Nancy Royal and her team that worked so hard to make the Santa Teresa 10th Annual Women's Retreat a resounding and spiritual success. We have been having increased participation every year in the Women's Retreat. The good news of what we do at Santa Teresa is spreading quickly. A lot of planning and preparation happen behind the scenes and the fruit of this year's retreat will be for our women and our families a sense of being refreshed, renewed and rejuvenated in the Spirit, all included in the Italian theme word: RESTAURO!!!

For all those interested in getting information on our upcoming pilgrimages in 2020 and 2021, please join us for an orientation meeting on September 14th, Saturday, at 9:30 am in Avila Hall. We are going with a new Catholic travel agency and we want to inform you about the new benefits that they offer. We will also have colorful brochures to distribute that day. So, please COME and invite your friends and neighbors who might be interested in doing a pilgrimage with Santa Teresa Parish.

If you cannot make it to the orientation meeting, you will find information on all our future pilgrimages on our website, and there will also be brochures and registration forms in the vestibule and in the parish office. We are giving you plenty of time to think about it and to decide.

All our plans for refreshing and renovating the church are moving forward. On September 5th, we did a job walk with possible bidders for painting the church. Other meetings are happening simultaneously to work on new chairs, new carpeting, improved sound system and bringing the bathrooms to code.

As St Teresa of Avila reminds us: Patience obtains all things!

Father George Aranha
Pastor

SB 24 Abortion by medication techniques (Leyva, D-Chino) mandates that the on-campus health centers of public universities in California offer abortion-inducing drugs like RU-486. Governor Brown vetoed a similar bill (SB 320) last year. Yet proponents keep bringing up the same measure – unchanged and with no new evidence to support their position.

SB 24 also invites health centers to offer abortion counseling services to students but is specifically written in such a way to exclude pro-life counseling. This bill fails to allow students the opportunity to know any option other than abortion.

Besides the moral significance of this bill, SB 24 puts the health of college women at risk because college health centers will not have adequate resources to support them as they should. The bill also requires the State Treasurer to accept donations and administer an abortion promotion fund. After the funding runs out in 2023, the cost will either go to taxpayers or the college students through their school’s mandatory student fees.

The state of California should not be encouraging or funding abortions at all, most Californians, even many who support a woman’s right to choose, are opposed to our state being so involved in such a highly controversial decision. Let your Assembly Member know there is no need for these services on campus and that you oppose this one-sided bill. Where is the assistance for women who want to choose to keep their babies? Why have the legitimate concerns of college health providers been ignored?

ASK YOUR ASSEMBLY MEMBER FOR THEIR NO VOTE ON SB 24.

Creating a Culture of Vocations

Don’t forget to sign up for your family to participate!

As we continue to create a culture of vocation in our parish we are asking for one family from every Mass to sign up to pray the vocation prayer daily promoting a culture of vocations for an entire week.  Then that family will bring it back to Mass so that Father can present it to the next family.  There is a signup sheet in the vestibule to pick a date and Mass time for your family.

The prayer is on the front page of our bulletins or you can pick up prayer cards in the vestibule basket under the signup sheet.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
"I have called You by Name, You are Mine"

Have you ever considered.........
Joining the Catholic Church?
Seeking a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith?
What it means to be Catholic?
Cherishing a personal relationship with God?
Making your Confirmation?
Receiving Eucharist?

A person's faith journey always begins with God's initiation. God's presence can feel like a knocking door, a curiosity, a sense of wonder, a longing for healing, inner peace. Mysteriously, faith gradually changes from belief in something to belief in Someone with a desire to know that person even more.

The Church offers the opportunity to become acquainted with the Scriptures, its traditions and the Christian life, for those who have questions about the Catholic faith. This is the beginning of the process called RCIA. An Inquiry Session will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at at 7:30 p.m. in the St. John of the Cross Conference Room (the conference room is attached to the parish office - across from Mary's Garden).

If you would like to learn more about the RCIA Process please contact Lynda DeManti at 408-839-3163 or email Lynda@santateresachurch.com.
Each Week we will offer a suggestion on how each of us
can take small steps to work harder to care for
the resources of our earth.

By the end of the year each us could take 52
small steps for the “Care of Our Common Home”.
