I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to draw your attention to a few things happening in the coming weeks including a retreat for young people, an Evangelisation Summit, a Diaconate Ordination and a movie screening.

With Father's Day last weekend, it seems appropriate that many of our articles this month are on fatherhood. One article looks at the importance of fatherhood in today's society, another highlights a similar theme presented in Disney's The Lion King. We've also included a write-up on our newest spiritual father, Fr Ben Brooks, who was ordained to the priesthood just over a month ago!

Fire Retreat
Come along for a weekend of fun, fellowship and faith! There will be activities, talks on the faith, lots of recreation and times to share and meet new friends.
Who: Ages 12+
Where: St Mary of the Cross Church, Ranelagh
When: Fri 27th (evening) - Sunday 29th (noon)
Cost: $20 (includes food) and there is also an accommodation option available

New Evangelisation Summit: Global Summit Day
This event brings together leaders and speakers from around the world to better equip us in effective evangelisation through inspiring talks and practical strategies. It is a free event and is open to all Catholics. The style of this event is unique in that it is a broadcast of a summit that was held earlier in the year in Canada. It is being streamed once only at hubs around the world. The event will be held at 35 Tower Rd, Hobart on Saturday 5 October from 8:30am - 4:30pm. Diaconate Ordinations
The Archdiocese of Hobart is excited to be celebrating the Ordination of Steven Smith and Chathura Silva to the Order of Deacons. Everyone is invited to attend the Ordination which will take place at 11am on Saturday 21 September at the Church of the Apostles, Launceston. Refreshments will follow in the hall. Unplanned - Screening
The movie Unplanned will be screening for two nights on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 September 2019 at Village Cinemas Eastlands. Unplanned is based on the true story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood Director in the USA who underwent an incredible transformation after witnessing an abortion procedure. A confronting, beautiful and hopeful movie of redemption. More details can be found at the links below.
