This Week's Sermon

This week we will continue our fall series, The Church in the World, with a sermon from Erik on Matthew 5:14-16. We invite you to read ahead as way to prepare for Sunday's service.

(Listen to sermons our website or subscribe on iTunes. Please note: we are aware that some of our sermon recordings are cutting in and out. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue!)

Happening This Week

  • Welcome Back Sunday: Please join us immediately after this week's service for Welcome Back Sunday! We'll meet in the Fellowship Hall to share a meal and spend time with old friends and new. Bring a dish to share! Please RSVP here—you can also sign up to bring a specific dish and volunteer to help with setup and cleanup, if you like!

Coming Up Soon

  • City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Sunday, September 15th from 5:30pm-8pm (dinner included), and Wednesday, September 18th, 7pm-9:30pm, at the City Church offices (attendees are expected to attend the Sunday meeting AND the Wednesday meeting). City Church Basics explains who we are as a church and what it means to be a member. It is a necessary step towards formally joining the church, but membership is not required. Please RSVP so we are able to plan for food and materials.
  • Women's Bible Studies: Our Fall Women's Bible Studies will kick off the week of September 11th! We will have two studies meeting this fall: one on Monday evenings and one on Wednesday mornings. Please head over to our website for more information about these studies and for a link to register.
  • Exploring Our Racism: Exploring Our Racism creates a safe space for brothers and sisters to grapple with the issue of racism and to consider it as a struggle in ourselves. Participants will read through a book together (I’m Still Here by Austin Channing Brown) and engage with the content through personal reflection, conversation with group members, and prayer. The group meets every other week on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm to 9pm (located TBD once we determine expected attendance). The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 11th. If interested, please contact Megan Lowe at MeganRLowe@gmail.com.

Serving Our Community

  • Meals for City Church Families: Several City Church families have welcomed new babies this spring/summer. One way we care for families with new additions is by providing meals for them as they settle into what their new day-to-day lives look like. If you’d like to provide a meal for one (or more!) of these families, please visit our Member Care page to sign up.
Have a great week—and we hope to see you soon!
