Shiatsu Works
This coming Saturday I'm holding the ME Flexibility + 5T Strength workshop from 10a to 12p at Shantiful. The 10 Basic Meridian Exercises is a set of gentle stretches, arising from Zen Shiatsu, that open the nervous and circulatory systems. The 5 Tibetans are a set of active yoga exercises that strengthen the body, particularly the core. Each set takes 10 minutes to perform, and, done daily, greatly support health and fitness. $50, sign up and pay on my online store (select "Workshop," then this particular workshop from the drop down list). See you there!
TW + PC ME
Over Labor Day weekend I attended the Shoshin Ryu Yudanshakai Reunion at the hombu (head) dojo (training hall) of the organization, which is located in Boulder City, Nevada (I always stop for a selfie in front of the historic city mural, see below). We have two black belt workouts there each year, with one of the events every other year being an organization-wide reunion. On Saturday I fully engaged in the five and one-half hours of training lead by the various professors of the art. Training was followed by a catered banquet. On Sunday, some practiced Okazaki Restorative Massage (the healing art associated with the lineage), while I lead others in five sets of exercises over two and one-half hours. The sets were the 10 Basic Meridian Exercises, Self-Sotai, two moves of Kigong, the 5 Tibetans, and an axe Kata. Oh, so sore yesterday and today. But, kimochi ("feels good")!
