Travel Spotlight: Dublin, Ireland

Temple Bar, Dublin
Trinity College, Dublin
St. Patrick Cathedral, Dublin
River Liffey, Dublin
This week, <<First Name>>, we're going to Dublin!

I've said it before, but I'll say it again... "While Germany holds my heart and mind, my spirit soars when I travel to England, Scotland, and Ireland! These are my kind of people, and they have my kind of culture." And, that's not just because of the Guinness and Jameson! (Though, they definitely help.)

I'm a history buff and Dublin has its share, but what Dublin really has is great Crack! ("Craic" as it's spelled in Gaelic, is a term for news, gossip, fun, entertainment, and enjoyable conversation, particularly prominent in Ireland.) There's nothing like going to an Irish Pub, sitting at the bar, ordering a pint, and having your ear talked off by an old, local Irishman, while traditional Irish folk music is being played live just a few steps from you. "Céad míle fáilte!" ("a hundred thousand welcomes!")

Watch this 8-minute video. It really brings Dublin to life!
"Despite a long and sometimes tragic history of invasion and resistance, this thriving business capital has poetry, music, and literature percolating through its cobblestones."
Cultural experiences like the Irish pub scene are a big part of why I love traveling, but Dublin also has so much to offer beyond "living like a local." There's ancient history, medieval history, and modern history, as well as myriad churches, war memorials, and art institutions. Like Viking stuff? They've got it! Like viewing really, really old religious texts? They've got the Book of Kells and it's sure to please! Wanna learn more about the fight for Irish independence? Check out Kilmainham Gaol - the historic jail used by the Brits. Love the Irish poets? You needn't go far! They're everywhere and their influence helps to define the city.

Let's not forget about the food! Sure, there are my traditional favorites, but there's also a vibrant restaurant scene. Just like any other major world city, Dublin's food culture is eclectic and delicious! And, it all pairs well with a pint of Guinness!

Does that sound like an Extraordinary Adventure to you? Do you want to travel a little further, get up close and touch the world, and adventure beyond the typical vacation experience to become fully immersed? I hope you do! Because I would love to begin planning your trip to Dublin today!
