What is the C4AA Streaming Soiree?

We’ve been thinking about all of you - yes, you our far-flung compatriot.

We want to hang out. We want to gather 'round a campfire and talk about all of our big adventures, and our weird side projects we never get to share.

Imagine this:

you

you 🔥 us

you

snacks and drinks stashed over here -->

But we don't have a building. Much less any land we can set ablaze.

This means, as much as we'd like to, we simply can't hold big raucous parties in our offices.

BUT WILL WE LET THIS KEEP US APART?

NO!

We will gather!

We will gather at the same Center for Artistic Activism we hold our weekly staff meetings!

We will gather on the internet.

The C4AA Streaming Soiree will be a LIVE, online meetup. You'll be there. We'll be there.

As a Streaming Soiree ticket holder you can:

  • Submit questions to the C4AA in advance we will do real research on and give our smartest answers to!

  • Ask sensitive questions like "where does your funding come from?" or "have you ever had a workshop that ended in disaster?" or "what's the story with that rash?" and we will do our best to answer them. And honestly!

  • Meet other C4AA supporters and learn about their work!

  • Make suggestions for future Pop Culture Salvage Expeditions outings!

  • Get a sneak preview of our upcoming book, "How to Win: A Practical Guide to Artistic Activism!"

  • Weigh in on future program ideas we're developing at the C4AA!

You'll also be the first to learn about the next Streaming Soiree - if there ever is one. This may be the only one and it won't be recorded – don't miss it!

Why are we doing this?

We want to spend time this year getting cozier with good people. It keeps all of us inspired. So these hangouts are a way to make sure we’re all connected and feel the community we're all a part of.

And your donations help us offsiet the costs for C4AA’s work.

Your donations are critical because while most of our funding comes from foundations, it is rare to find funders who support the fundamental costs of running an organization. We need your help to keep the servers roaring, keep communications flowing, and get the help and support we need so we can focus on those big battles and what comes next.  Very few large funders allow us to use their grants in this way.

This is why we're so grateful for individual donors and small foundations to support us in the invisible work of running the C4AA.

Thank you in advance, and we hope to see you at the soiree!

BONUS CONTENT: Enlisting artists and designers for the Green New Deal

As a non-profit, we can't support political candidates, but we love this tactic...posters designed for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by Tandem, a NYC design firm that produced her 2018 campaign posters.  The reference to 1930s Federal Works Administration posters is clear which has created a lot of debate about cultural reference and alignment with political visual language of the past, but makes our WPA hearts go pitter-pat.

Our friends at the US Department for Arts and Culture hosted a summer call series for anyone looking to get informed, inspired, connected, and engaged:  “Artists Unite for a Green New Deal”

Congrats!  You made it to the bottom again!

Here's your treat...
