Thank you all for your patience through the storm. City staff are working hard to get life back to normal as quickly as possible. Unfortunately hurricane season is not over and other systems are developing, continue to keep your hurricane supplies topped up and take a moment to assess your hurricane plan based off of lessons learned in the run up to Dorian and make adjustments as necessary. Update from LWB Electric Utility Director!

As Dorian begins to weaken and move away we need to remain vigilant and not let our guard down.  Please continue to exercise caution in your homes, businesses, and travel if you venture outdoors today and tomorrow.  At Lake Worth Beach, and throughout our electric service territory, we have the benefit of a highly team of experienced utility workers who have been on duty or on call throughout the storm to respond to your electric needs.

In addition to our own employees, we have had the benefit of over 135 additional power line workers and tree trimmers who traveled from afar to help us if needed.  We have had them waiting nearby and they hail from as far away as Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, and Florida.  Fortunately, we have not needed them yet but having them here gives the assurance that we can more rapidly restore the system if needed.

We appreciate all of our employees and supporting staff that have been working on behalf of you to keep us safe and powered up, as well as their families who remained safely at home.

We encourage our customers to continue to use our web site and the on-line outage reporting form if you experience an outage or see a wire down.  Throughout the storm, we have been utilizing technology that allows us to quickly identify locations of power outages and alert us electronically.  This has allowed our crews to more quickly respond to the few outages we have experienced.

As an additional word of caution, be aware that scams and hoaxes offering you electric utility services that appear to be from our utility, have emerged.  Please be aware that any services we provide would be advertised on our web site, and information sent to you via direct mail to your home or business.

Our communications team will be providing regular updates throughout the weekend on our web site and social media.  Please remain safe throughout this event.
There is potential for outages to cause traffic signals to stop working. In this scenario it is important to remember the following points:
  • Flashing Red - Lights should be treated as a Stop Sign.
  • Flashing Yellow - Drivers should proceed with caution as traffic permits.
  • No Signal Light - Lights should be treated as a 4-way stop.

In the case of a 4-way stop please follow these rules:
  1. Traffic from all four directions must stop.
  2. The 1st vehicle to arrive has the right of way.
  3. If multiple vehicles arrive at the same time, the driver on the furthest left yields.

Turtle Eggs

If you find exposed turtle nests or eggs on the beach, please leave them alone. Eggs and nests have the best chance of survival when left untouched.

Lake Worth Beach Casino and Ocean Complex

(Including Beach, Pier, Casino Building, and Parking lot)

Lake Worth Beach will be open Wednesday but will remain unguarded until Noon to allow guards time to prepare. Please follow all posted flags and check the beach conditions board. Please check with individual Lake Worth Casino tenants regarding their opening hours.

The Lake Worth Pier will remain closed until further notice.

Lake Worth Beach Parks

The City of Lake Worth Beach will reopen all parks to the public at 8am. Please avoid tree debris and exercise caution. Staff will be performing damage assessment and any required clean up.

Lake Worth Beach Municipal Offices

City of Lake Worth Beach municipal offices will reopen to the public on Thursday.

Golf Course

The City of Lake Worth Beach Golf Course will remain closed until further notice. The Beach Club restaurant will reopen at 5pm tonight.
