RACE TO BEAT CANCER

So the Factory Is Yours, Charlie

In an alternate life, Sidney Lawrence is in San Francisco, running the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company his great-great-grandfather founded in 1852. Instead, he's making art in the third-floor studio of his 200-year-old Georgetown house. In this week's byGeorge blog, the 71-year-old shares how he escaped the 'shadow' of the family business to forge his own life in DC, the Bill Clinton-inspired project that took over three years to complete, and the truth about aging as an artist.
