Securing the future of Bob Hawke’s Landcare legacy:
Late Prime Minister’s granddaughter Sophie Taylor-Price announces Landcare Youth Summit

 

Celebrating Landcare Week, Bob Hawke’s granddaughter and Landcare 30 Years ambassador Sophie Taylor-Price announced the Landcare Youth Summit in Wentworth NSW to mark 30 years since late former Prime Minister delivered speech to launch national formation of Landcare movement.

Joined by key figures from the Landcare network, representatives from Wentworth Shire council and students fro, Pooncarie Public School, Ms Taylor-Price unveiled a commemorative sign and planted a native tree with the same shovel used by her grandfather.

LANDCARE YOUTH SUMMIT

 

The Landcare Youth Summit will offer a mixture of keynote speakers, panel discussions and project presentations featuring young members from sustainability and Indigenous perspectives, biodiversity protection and climate change.

20 MILLION TREES INFOGRAPHIC


20 Million Trees is part of the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program. The aim is to plant 20 million native trees and understory, and establish healthy, self-sustaining tree-based ecosystems. Landcare Australia is a service provider under the program.

The 2019 Victorian Landcare Awards attracted 73 nominations over 15 award categories, highlighting the amazing work of Landcare’s environmental volunteers. Winners of the nine National Award categories will go on to represent Victoria at the National Landcare Awards in 2020.
