September 2019 Presidents' Message
Welcome back to a new year of Houston-Peach AAUW! We are looking forward to a great year of friendship and service.
Most of the programs are already set and we plan to have another Book Club meeting in the winter. Send any suggestions for what book we should consider reading this year to Laurie and Carrie. We hope to pick one at our September meeting.
We will be doing book distributions this year at Byron Elementary and both Cherished Daycare centers.
And before you know it, our annual Used Book Sale will be here. Ask all you know if they have books to donate.
Hope to see you at our first meeting of the year on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6:30 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church. Bring along a friend or two. The more the merrier.
Carrie and Laurie

Book Sale Update
This news regarding the upcoming Book Sale from Marlene Humphry and Susan Blair:
Time marches on! Here it is the beginning of September and our 54th (or is it 55th?) annual book sale is only 40+ days away. A loyal crew has worked feverishly to deliver, sort, price and box books since June. We worked so well that we actually took a week and a half off because we'd finished all the books we had.
Our donations are down, so please encourage your friends to clean out and donate to the cause. That includes our members as well. I have already turned in 6 boxes of books, including 2 boxes of cookbooks (and you know that hurt).
Because the management of Galleria Mall has not allowed us to put our book barrels up this year, we are definitely behind the power curve. We do have barrels at Byron and Centerville City Halls as well as at the Byron Welcome Center and Trinity United Methodist Church. (So far no luck in placing one at Warner Robins City Hall!) I will be happy to pick up any donations, just let me know when and where.
Set up for the sale is on Wednesday October 16 and the sale dates are October 17-19. The ad is on the online book sale locator, and ads will be placed in the local papers. We need your help to overcome the obstacles we have faced. I will have a sign up sheet available at the September and October meetings. WE NEED YOU AND WE NEED BOOKS.
