Hey Marsh Lake Seniors:
The following workshop was just offered to us by Patrick Royle - funded by New Horizons for Seniors....and it's free!
New Horizons Art Workshop

Make your own, personalized 'folded page' book in this New Horizons Workshop for seniors... with well-known Yukon artist, Joyce Majiski

Date: Tuesday September 10 from 10:00-2:30 pm
Location: 164 Venus place Tuktu studio-- Golden Horn area

All supplies provided, classes are free and for those over 55.

This is a workshop to combine all of your own creative skills into a book format. Bring your photos, writing, thoughts for a story or a theme to explore- or be totally spontaneous!
I’ll walk you through a series of different one page folded book templates. You will become more familiar with folding and tearing paper. Through this process you will select a favourite format and use a final piece of “good” paper to create a book to take home.

Attention Army Beach Residents:
I am writing to you as your Local Advisory Council representative for Ward 4, which includes Army Beach, to talk about public access to the beach.
As most of you are aware there are no developed lake accesses and very little signage other than the day use area and the boat launch further down the beach. Maps of the beach indicate the Government provided 6 lake accesses when lots were being surveyed and sold. In response to a request sent to the LAC asking us to look at developing better lake access for residents on the other side of the road, MLA/Minister Streicker and I are hosting a neighbourhood meeting to discuss the best way to move forward. The Government is willing to help develop one or two of these accesses for foot traffic only, with as little impact as possible to neighbouring properties.
Neighbours are invited to join us to provide input toward this initiative.
Where: 104 Army Beach Drive (Prevost’s)
When: Monday September 9th at 7:00pm
Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting,

Judy Prevost
Ursula will be back at the Centre starting in October to offer another awesome series of Osteofit sessions...a gentle form of exercise for folks with osteoporosis or other mobility-related injuries and conditions.  Happening Tuesday afternoons ~ 1pm!
Contact Shirley Anne if you're interested in participating. 660-4999 or email: marshlake@gmail.com
Cost: FREE (Thanks to New Horizons for Seniors funding)  Start date: TBA.
ADD A SOLAR SYSTEM AND SELL YOUR SURPLUS ENERGY
Can it work for you?
Supplying your own solar energy through renewable sources can greatly reduce your carbon emissions and save you thousands of dollars over the next 30+ years.
Come and join in a discussion and education session with Yukon Energy Solutions Centre  who offers a Micro-generation Program allowing you to sell the surplus energy you generate if:
  • you add solar photo-voltaic (also called PV) or another renewable energy system; and
  • you are connected to the electrical grid.
