Greetings Spinners,

Here is a report from Carl on last week's ride:

Missing the rain, Spinners rode 25-32 miles, starting as 3 groups, then 4, then 5, back to 4, then 3 and finishing as 4 groups.

The 9/17 ride will be the last ride of the year beginning at 5:30 PM. On 9/24 we will start the rides at 5:00 PM. Our last Tuesday night ride of the season will be 10/29.

Here is the report from Jeff & Sue:

We continue to have good numbers showing up for our Tuesday rides.  Quickly turned into several groups with a nice post ride outing at LaCasa Grande.  Likely will be difficult to meet after the ride going through the rest of the season as the sun is setting earlier.

After a long day in the saddle this is what can happen to a hard core bicyclist--it is a mirage margarita just like a watering hole in the desert that isn't there.

Per the info below there is a bicycling event that is being put together by the Rock Trail Coalition (RTC) on Thursday Sep 12th and all Spinners are welcome to join in on the festivities.

The weather looks a bit "iffy" for Thursday so watch the sky and make your own personal decision reg doing this ride:

The Gravel Ride - a New Adventure
(with ice cream!)

Thursday, September 12 ride from Big Hill Park on the gravel Peace Trail to Afton.  Meet near the Welty Center at the top of the bike trail in Big Hill Park.  5:00 pm meet and ready to ride.

We will ride the crushed limestone path from Big Hill to Afton and the two miles further to Tripp Road, the terminus of the gravel section.  Then head back to Afton for treats at the Bass Creek Cafe. Then back to Big Hill Park.  Total ride distance is 13 miles round trip.

Bring along some money for ice cream or another treat at the Bass Creek Cafe.  This will be a no-drop casual ride for riders of all abilities.

So bring your mountain bike, hybrid, gravel bike, fat tire, or cruiser and join the fun.  Please reply to this email (djpaynter@charter.net )   so we might get a ball park head count for the ride

Shown below is a request from Wendy Hanisch who worked on the RAW Ride when it came through Beloit:

Hi Rick:

Sending you the info on signing up to volunteer for the Fontana Triathlon on Saturday, September 21.
Here is the link to the race website:

https://www.fontanatriathlon.com/

There is a tab on the site to recruit volunteer but I also have copied it below.  This will show you how many volunteers are needed, positions and shift times.  If it is at all possible for you to recruit some people, especially for the bike course, that would be great!  Volunteers will receive a volunteer shirt as well as free lunch during the post-race party.  Let me  know if you have any questions.  Thanks!!
