For our fifth study session, join us as we learn about harm reduction in Philadelphia from organizations moving this work forward.

Local organizers will share experiences from the field and discuss opportunities to get involved and/or support this work.

Speakers include:
David Tomlinson, Philadelphia Drug User's Union
Aisha Mohammed, Project Safe
Arielle Narva, Prevention Point
Nicole O'Donnell, Angels in Motion
Matt Tice, Pathways to Housing PA
Rohit Mukherjee, Sol Collective
Davis Hermann, Penn's Center for Opioid Recovery and Engagement (CORE)

These study group sessions are brought to you by CRC's War on People initiative. The project asks: How can we resist logics of control and compliance? How can we seriously disinvest from the War on Drugs and instead invest in the neighborhoods that it has harmed? This initiative aims to foster dialogue to facilitate the development of strategies for resistance, resilience and cultural change. Visit the War on People project to learn more.

Our final session, culminating a summer of learning around the war on drugs and harm reduction, will take place on September 23.

Support Safehouse by joining SOL Collective, ACT UP Philadelphia, Friends of Safehouse, Families for Sensible Drug Policy, VOCAL-NY, BRIDGES Coalition, P.A.I.N. and other harm reduction advocates and community members as they argue their legal case to open a safe consumption site (SCS)/Overdose Prevention site in Philadelphia.

Learn more about the case against Safehouse here, and see this story about a doctor who lost her son to overdose, and why she believes ‘Philly needs Safehouse now’.

Way to support:

  • Call McSwain's office today at 215-861-8200 to demand he drop the case against Safehouse.

  • Go to the rally at 601 Market tomorrow Thursday, September 5th at noon. There will be speakers, a memorial for the lives lost to overdoses in 2018, and tours of different parts of an SCS.
