Arts Matter!

There are so many ways arts and culture contribute to the health and vibrancy of civic life in Massachusetts. In the weeks leading up to #ArtsMatterDay (Oct. 25th), we'll be celebrating the impact the arts have on communities, education, the creative workforce and economy, and health and wellness.

Follow the Harwich Cultural Center on Facebook at www.facebook.com/harwichculturalcenter and Instagram at www.stagram.com/harwichculturalcenter to see the comments of others on how Art Matters.

Indoor Meditative Labyrinth Walk

Labyrinth Quests will offer a meditative Labyrinth Walk at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Harwich Cultural Center focused on “Ingenious Play”.

Dr. Margaret M. Rappaport, author of Bringing Life to the Labyrinth, and of Body Prayer, both of which explain the connections, enrichments and the inspirations of walking the labyrinth, will guide us with a brief talk before the walk.

Music selected by Darlene T. Hagon will accompany the walk. The labyrinth will be candlelit to enhance meditation which leads us away from our repetitive thoughts, as well as the habitual, automatic thoughts and feelings that are based on media, upbringing, and education.

We invite you to join us to consider inventive, creative, imaginative play in your life. Labyrinth facilitators are specially trained to be innovative and resourceful in every walk. We plan to stimulate insightful, perceptive, and clever experiences. We encourage brilliant intuition as well as masterly success in elaborating your meditation using the artistic “tool” we call the labyrinth.

Facilitators recognize that entering into the labyrinth exposes us to “myth”. It is a way to play; however, it is not theater because there is no audience, only participation. There is meaning to be discovered but without instruction as walking the labyrinth asks for nothing. It “accepts” your resonance as you walk never commanding your attention.

All are welcome to join us to walk. People may sit to observe, as well.  Free. For additional information call (508) 240-1112 or email darlenelabyrinth@gmail.com.
