Ohio Latino Student Summit

On Friday, October 4th, 2019, the Office of Ethnic Programs and Services within the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Cincinnati will proudly host the 4th Annual Ohio Latino Student Summit!

OLSS 2019 seeks to connect, enhance, and build community among Latino student leaders through workshops, motivational speakers, and accessible resources. We invite high school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students throughout the Greater Cincinnati area to take part in this impactful day-long program and provide them a setting that allows for the learning of skills that will foster Latino student success. OLSS 2019 will be an all-day event, from 8am to 4pm at the Tangeman University Center (2600 Clifton Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45220). Registration is free; a light breakfast and lunch will be provided. You do not want to miss this. Make sure to share this opportunity with others!

UC Foundation Board of Trustees Student Representative Application

For the first time in its history, the UC Foundation Board of Trustees will add students to its 59-member board. The UC Foundation serves as the center of philanthropy for the entire University, including UC Health. It’s mission is to “ignite passion and transform lives,” and its staff and trustees inspire thousands of donors to deliver more than $100 million in annual scholarships, endowments, and programming enhancements.

The student trustees will be representatives from the student body and serve as active, ex-officio, non-voting members of the Board of Trustees. Students will work with the Foundation’s trustees and staff to help the University in its fundraising efforts, in making the student body aware of the efforts and work of the Foundation, and in making students aware of the importance of donating to the University after they graduate. Initially, students will be assigned to the Alumni Engagement Committee or the Communications & Recognition Committee, both of which serve on the front lines of interactions with donors, who will greatly benefit from the insights and connectivity of the student experience.

Applicants must be able to attend two, two-day in-person meetings a year, in April and October. There are quarterly conference calls, as well as ad-hoc projects that are quite flexible. Meetings for the upcoming year are October 17-18, 2019 and April 2-3, 2020. The mandatory orientation for new Student Trustees is from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

For more information, please contact Vatina Gray at Vatina.gray@uc.edu. Application materials can be found on CAMPUS Link at https://campuslink.uc.edu/submitter/form/start/333816.  Applications are due on Friday, September 20 at Noon.
