It has been a year of milestones for Microway. I'm pleased to announce that on July 8, Lorne Wilson joined the company as our first COO, responsible for managing our continued rapid growth by leveraging opportunities in new markets and integrating our technical partners’ state of the art products. Lorne is a seasoned industry executive who offers both operational and business development experience. He has held senior management positions at tech companies, including Fujitsu, Conner Peripherals, and Boxx Technologies.
Early in the year, we designed and delivered an HPC cluster with more than 10,000 compute cores to a major defense customer. At the 2019 NVIDIA GPU Technology Conference, Microway was named the 2018 NVIDIA NPN HPC Partner of the Year. By summer, Microway experts installed DGX-2 deployments at Clemson University, Oregon State University, and two major DOE national laboratories. Our technical team architected, integrated, delivered and deployed a groundbreaking installation for AI education and research built on the DGX-POD architecture for Milwaukee School of Engineering.
We also delivered large computational clusters to Draper Laboratory, Emory University, IBM Watson Health Imaging, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, ORNL, and New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Microway continues to be the supplier of storage solutions for the NESE Storage Cluster at MGHPCC, a collaboration between Boston University, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, and the University of Massachusetts.
As we begin our 38th year, we are at the entry point of a new computational era in which scientific breakthroughs will increasingly be made using both workstations and supercomputers. I am so proud of Microway's contributions to the exciting and evolving fields we have been privileged to work in. I want to thank our excellent team for their continuing attention to detail and enthusiasm for helping our customers achieve their goals.
Finally, we are grateful for all our customers. Our continuing success would not be possible without your support!
Ann Fried, CEO and Co-founder of Microway
