WHAT TO EXPECT

This Sunday is Confirmation Sunday in which we welcome and recognize several of our youth who, having their baptisms confirmed, became full members recently when they met with the Session. We will recognize their gifts which they will be sharing as musicians and as worship leaders.

I have enjoyed my time getting to know them. Their beliefs and their doubts, their earnest questions and eager curiosities inspire me. It is such a privilege to walk alongside young people during this formative time of life, to nourish the seeds of faith that were planted by their families and in this community of faith, and to witness the potential each of them have to grow into the people God has created them to be, the people God has chosen to change the world! Communion will be celebrated.

It will be a great day for our church that will come on the heels of a fantastic day of music, food and fun in our grove tomorrow! Please join us for Music in the Grove tomorrow at 2 p.m. and then for worship this Sunday at 10 a.m. It is a big weekend for our EBPC community as we share our gift of music with our neighbors and then celebrate an uplifting, inspiring worship led by our youth.

Welcome to our Interim Youth Director,
Nora DeWater!

As part of our partnership with Ministry Architects, Nora DeWater has joined our team and is serving as East Brentwood’s Interim Youth Director this year. Nora was born and raised in Seattle, Washington: her favorite place in the world (Nashville has become a close second!). Her mother was a Presbyterian Minister at several churches growing up, so Nora was actively involved in her church, her youth group, and even the Presbyterian Youth Triennium conferences. Her first real job was working at her Presbytery church camp, Soundview, where she wrote songs and led music for the children and high schoolers. Nora followed her dream of music to Belmont University, where she studied Audio Engineering Technology.

She lives in a basement apartment with her roommate and a family that lives right upstairs. The parents of the family were Nora’s college Youth Pastors and an inspiration to her. Upon graduating in December of 2018, Nora has been working in a couple of studios and nannying for several families. She found out about EBPC when she took a new route to go babysit for a family one Saturday, saw the sign on Concord Road, and spontaneously decided to visit the church the next day. Ever since that first Sunday, she was hooked! She loved the people and the community that welcomed her and reminded her of home. Nora is excited to participate in any way in the church, but especially serving as the Interim Youth Director!
New fall worship and faith formation series
begins next week!

Parenting is a journey, not an event. Even if you do not have children of your own, we all recognize how important it is that we pass along our faith to the children around us...but where do we begin? How do we navigate the technical decisions of parenting while keeping the end goal of raising faithful, responsible, and caring children? How do we as a community of faith support families during a challenging time when so many feel isolated as a result of the business of life? Join us for a new Bible Study titled: Parables of Parenting. Learn more below and join us Sunday mornings this fall!
