Dear Students, Families, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of ASB School,

Happy Wednesday!  As I said to the staff at our Monday meeting, it has been a pretty seamless transition back to school.  Students and teachers have jumped right back into the routine and it almost feels like we never left for summer break.  As a principal, that is a good thing! It shows our students, staff, and families are happy, comfortable, and glad to be back with their community!

Thank you for a very successful first Free Dress Food Drive on Monday!  St. Vincent de Paul will be able to serve many in need due to your generosity!

Short and sweet this week since you will listen to me say plenty at Curriculum Night(s)! 

Curriculum Nights:
  • Pre-K-5th Grade: TONIGHT, 7:00 PM in the Assumption Gym
  • 6th-8th Grade: Next Tuesday, September 17th, 7:00 PM in the Assumption Gym
  • Please head over to the Ridge following Curriculum Night(s) to socialize with your fellow parents and support local business!

ASB Theatre Ensemble
ASB Theatre Ensemble announces auditions for ASB School's production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, The Sound of Music!  Auditions are open to all ASB 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  Auditions will take place on September 16th and 18th in the Assumption Fellowship Hall.  To sign up for your ten minute audition slot, go HERE The Sound of Music opens at Nathan Hale High School on Thursday, January 30th, 2020 and closes on Sunday, February 2nd.

In your Wednesday envelope each family has received a roster confirmation sheet.
This is your opportunity to confirm that your family information for the
school roster is correct. Please fill it out and return it to school by Friday, September 13th if there are any corrections.


We are looking for Parent Ambassadors to help at Open House events!

Please email Kelley Kane if you are able to help greet prospective families and accompany Student Ambassadors on tours. Parents will be needed from 9:00am to 10:30am. Thank you!

Thank you PCC and ASB Families
PCC donated nearly $1500 to ASB from last year's Scrip users.  PCC donates 5% of the toral value each time an ASB Scrip card is reloaded.  PCC Scrip cards can be reloaded online using a credit card, Paypal, or in stores at the check-out.


Scriptember Update
Scriptember is off to a great start!  1A, 4A, 4B, 5A, and 7B are in the lead for the class with the highest percentage of new standing orders $250+ or existing $500+.  New standing orders will begin in October.

Soccer News:
Congratulations to all of our ASB teams that started soccer this past weekend. Games for grades K-3 will start this weekend, September 14-15. Game schedules are available now on the Team Sideline website.


Cross Country News:

Practices for ASB Cross Country started this Monday, September 9, it was great to have all the kids out preparing for the season.

  • Grades K-3 will practice, September 16, 23, 30 
  • Grades 4-8 will practice, September 16, 23, 30, and Oct. 7
  • We'll meet at the Magnuson playground
  • Head to fields 1-4 (the grass field with the dirt track) for all ASB team warm-ups 
  • Break into grade specific teams for individual practices
  • Return to playground for parent pick-up

Afternoon Extended Care for kindergarten starts this week!  We looking forward to meeting all of our kindergarten students.

If you have not registered for ASB Extended Care, please do so at your earliest convenience. You may find all registration materials and information on the ASB School Extended Care web page.  If you have any questions about Extended Care, please do not hesitate to contact Dylan Pouley or Kai Bond we are happy to assist you in whatever way that we can.

Parent Board Treasurer Update
Thanks to those who participated in the general vote to confirm Michael McCarthy, current ASB parent with a finance background, as the Parent Board's new Treasurer to replace the position which was resigned over the summer. Thank you, Michael, for stepping up to for take on this important role for our community!

All are Welcome: September 25th Parent Board Meeting
Join Parent Board members at the first meeting of the year on Wed., Sept. 25th, 6:45 pm, in Assumption Church's Fellowship Hall. 
Parent Board meetings through the rest of the school year usually occur on the third Thursday of the month and are held in the middle school building, though future dates can sometimes change due to holidays or other unforeseen circumstances. Upcoming meeting dates/location will be posted in the newsletter. 
FALL CLUBS PREVIEW
Mondays only: ART (Grades 1-4) & CHESS (Grades K-8) from 2:00-3:30pm
Due to construction, all Fall trimester clubs will be held on Mondays. 
Sessions to start on 10/7. 
Stay tuned, as updates on dates, prices and registration should be available next week!

ASB Family Dance: Get Ready for Fun! 

As was mentioned in last week's newsletter, ASB's first Family Dance of the year will be held on Friday, October 4th, in the ASB Gym. Here are some additional details about the event: 

- The dance will be from 7:00 - 9:00 PM (snacks provided, but please make sure to have dinner beforehand)
- All are welcome - tickets will be $20 per family (a link to purchase tickets in advance will be sent out soon)
- Anyone interested in earning volunteer hours can help at the event - be on the lookout for a Signup Genius for volunteer opportunities via Room Parents email (double volunteer hours for set-up and clean-up help!)
- There will be a rockin' deejay, lots of dancing, and good fellowship!
We hope to see you all there!
Hot Lunch Program Sign-ups
"The hot lunch program has updated its name to "The Lunch Ladies."  Parents who have used the hot lunch program in the past need to use their new URL  Accounts and passwords have been retained, all that is needed is for parents to assign students to their new classrooms.
New parents, instructions on setup of an account can be found on the ASB website under Parents Board -->HOT LUNCH PROGRAM – Cafe Boonli"

To Place  An Order:
  • Print online order form online, submit with payment (checks to office -payable to ASB, credit cards in-store only)
  • Most orders can be filled through the store and will be sent home

 Assumption Parish Children's Choir
Is open to all ASB School students in 1st though 8th grades.  Learn tons about healthy singing technique, sing beloved tunes, and learn challenging and exciting musical literature.  We meet every Tuesday at 3:05 at the Big Toy. Rehearsals (3:15-4:15) are in Assumption Church.  You can register for Children's Choir by going HERE

Youth Group at Assumption is getting a whole new look!  This year, co-Youth Ministers Kai Bond and Julie Olsen will be offering a wide variety of activities and service opportunities.  Watch this space for further announcements! 

Do you know someone searching for God and community?
Do you know someone not baptized or baptized in another Christian   tradition, who is curious about becoming Catholic?
 Do you know someone already Catholic but has not yet received   Confirmation & Communion? They may be a spouse, co-worker, neighbor or other family member. Please invite them to our Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) -  a path for welcoming new inquirers into our community of believers. It is for a place to ask questions and seek understanding. 

Assumption Parish: Weekly “no obligation” inquiry sessions begin Wednesday, September,18 7-8:30pm in the St. Joseph meeting room. Any questions?  Email Ellen Bollard . We hope to see you there.

Are you looking for a way to fulfill service hours?
Assumption Parish will be hosting a sew for Days for Girls - an international organization that makes menstrual kits for girls around the world so that they can stay in school. 
You do not need to sew there are many tasks for non-sewers. Bring your sewing machine, iron/board, or just your self and come work with us - we would love to have you. 
 Tuesday, Setpember 17, 6:30 - 9 pm in the Fellowship Hall -
come when you can - no need to stay the entire time.

  • New Mass Time - Starting Wednesday, September 4th, we are starting new morning Mass times.   Beginning September 4th, St. Bridget’s morning Mass time is moving from 8am to 9am.  
  • Starting September 9th, join starting at 8:30 before Mass for coffee and fellowship. Parents, this is a great opportunity to join us after dropping off your kids at school!
1st Communion & 1st Reconciliation Sacramental Prep
@ St. Bridget Registration is now available on-line for students in 2nd grade wishing to receive these sacraments for the first time.  Go to the First Communion page under the SACRAMENTS HERE  for all the details.  Classes begin Monday, October 28.  *If you have a child older than 2nd grade wishing to prepare for these sacraments, please contact Carla by September 23.
 
Want to Learn more about Becoming Catholic?  Join us on
Sundays September 8, 15, or 22
Stop by St. Bridget parish hall after the 9:30am mass on September 8, 15, or 22 to learn more about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).  This is the process by which individuals explore Catholicism, grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and discern their calling to join the Catholic Church.  RCIA classes at St. Bridget will meet on Wednesday evenings beginning October 9.  Contact Carla for more info.  At Assumption parish, classes begin September 18th and your contact is Ellen .

Join the adventure of Cub Scouts! Pack 167 is a family-run, co-ed Pack and all boys and girls in grades K-5 are welcome to join.
