Also this month

Halton Gardening Group are holding an Autumn Plant and Bulb Sale and coffee morning on Saturday, 28th September from 10-12 am.

This will be a good opportunity to select bulbs and perennials at very reasonable prices while enjoying refreshments in the company of fellow gardeners.

Bulbs will include a wide variety of traditional daffodils, narcissi, mid-season tulips, both single and double, and hyacinths specially prepared for winter flowering, ideal for Christmas presents.

Perennials for sale will be from members’ own gardens and will come with the usual friendly advice and encouragement.

The Gardening Group would like to thank all those who supported the plant sale in May. The sale profits, together with those from the autumn sale, will go towards hard landscaping work at the Centre.

Entry £1 for adults, free for children.

October Event

Children’s Nearly New Sale

Our next Children's Nearly New Sale is on Saturday 12th October from 10am to 12 noon.

All tables are sold out.  No more names will be put on the waiting list.

As usual you will find a wide variety of children’s goods, including nursery equipment, toys, clothes and relevant household items. If you haven't been to our wonderful Children's Nearly New Sale before, do come along, there is plenty to choose from.

Entry is 50p for adults, free for children.

Refreshments available in the Snack Bar and upstairs in the Coffee Shop.

Donations of cakes and raffle prizes are very welcome. Volunteers to help on the day will also be appreciated.

Funds raised on the day will help to finance continuing improvements to our Centre and its facilities.

For more information, to volunteer, or to donate cakes or raffle prizes please contact Centre Manager Maureen on tel: 01524 811316 or email: centremanager@haltoncentre.org

We sometimes get asked why not put on more of these sales - the answer is - it's a lot to organise. From booking the tables, getting volunteers to help on the day, and helping to serve refreshments, setting out the tables and chairs, and all the paperwork beforehand, and then putting everything away again. It all takes time, and then there's the publicity, printing and putting up posters, websites, newsletters etc.

However if someone - perhaps one or two, or more, of the sellers etc, would like to get together and organise such an event themselves in the future they are very welcome to do so.

For bookings and more detailed information on the facilities contact Carol Holman on email: bookings@haltoncentre.org or tel: 01524 811444 and she will be pleased to advise on availability and cost. Note that bookings are very busy at the moment.
Dial a Bus

Dial-A-Bus Service for Halton - Use It Or Lose It

The Dial-a-Bus service, for people with transport and mobility needs, has several places available and urgently needs to fill them in order for the service to continue.

This valuable service picks people up from their homes between 10.30 and 10.50 am on Mondays, take them to Asda for 1½ hours to do their shop and maybe have a sit down in the Cafe.  The driver will help people back onto the bus with their shopping and return to Halton at 1pm.

The cost of this service is £4 for the return journey. Please note passengers can only fetch three supermarket bags of goods - no large articles like a TV or grow-bags for the garden.

It is hoped that people will use the service weekly but if you would like to use it fortnightly please still make an enquiry as you may be able to share the service with someone else.

Please share this information with people you know who may be interested and do not have access to the internet.

The service can take up to 12 passengers including 2 with wheelchairs. If you are interested, or know of anyone who may be, please contact James Glen at Integrated Transport Services at Lancashire County Council to book a place.
