September 2019

Good morning <<First Name>>!

We hope you're having a great week, and have a relaxing weekend planned.

This month, you'll be hearing from Muhammed Saleem, our Gulf Co-operation Council Office Manager in Kuwait.

Muhammad has a Masters’ Degree in Computer Science from Australia and has worked with the Director of Web Key IT for a number of years, sharing the passion for making all digital materials (and all other services in our country) accessible for people with disabilities and also seniors.

‘Digital Accessibility in Kuwait: The Next Step’ Conference

Kuwait has embarked on an impressive journey, setting a standard for the Middle East in the design of a Framework for Digital Accessibility. The implementation of the Kuwait Digital Accessibility Framework for people with disabilities is not only aligned with Kuwait law, but also reflects the vision of Kuwait for 2035. This vision is a step toward ensuring government websites are accessible to everyone which includes people with disabilities.

Kuwait will host the 2nd Conference in Digital Accessibility in January 2020, “Digital Accessibility in Kuwait: The Next Step”. This Conference will focus on the ‘Kuwait Vision 2035’ and the accessibility of government websites for people with disabilities. The purpose of this conference is to promote the implementation of the Kuwait Digital Accessibility Framework and to assess the current level of digital accessibility of Kuwaiti government websites.

The conference will include workshops on the Kuwait Digital Accessibility Framework and how it applies to both the public and private section. There will also be a workshop for people who are engaging in digital accessibility implementation in the region. A highlight of the conference will be an announcement of the Digital Accessibility Award for the most accessible website in Kuwait. This award is the first of its kind in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). This award will encourage the public and private sector to apply the Kuwait Digital Accessibility Framework for their websites and raise the awareness in Kuwait of the importance of digital accessibility for everyone, and promote inclusivity for people with disabilities.

Research Surveys

Web Key IT are conducting research to understand the current trends in digital accessibility from the point of view of both the organisation and that of the individual using websites, applications etc.  We have two really short surveys (about 5 minutes) and we are hoping that we get sufficient response to collate meaningful and current data.  Would you please complete it? Also, if you’d send it to your own lists, we would be very appreciative.  We will make the results available for everyone via our website.  Thanks so much for your help and distribution.

If you represent both yourself and your organisation, you are welcome to complete both surveys.  Please contact us at info@webkeyit.com if you want any information about the surveys.
