September 2019

Greetings Monument Bible Church Family!

Monument Family,
Greetings! September is here and we’re settling into new schedules and routines as the kids are back in school. Fall officially begins Monday, September 23, but we’re already enjoying some of the good things that come with this season—certainly one of those is the return of football season (unless you’re not a football fan)—and we can look forward to cooler temps, falling leaves, fire pits, and candy shaped like pumpkins mixed with nuts and pretzels. I’m so grateful that God is sovereign and Jesus is our hope in every season (1 Timothy 1:1). I’d like to take a moment to highlight a few things as we begin a new month of ministry together.
  • New Sermon Series – I’m excited to kick off a new sermon series this month entitled “Habits of Holy Relationships.” Relationships are a vital part of our lives – they can be a source of encouragement or heartache – and our relationships are transformed by the gospel. This month we’re going to walk through Paul’s letter to Philemon to discover ten habits that will set apart the way we do relationships. I’m praying these habits will transform our relationships. Please read through Philemon three times as we prepare for this series which begins Sunday September 8th.

  • Baptism – Baptism is an important and special part of Jesus’ call to make disciples of all nations. I’m really excited to share that Carol Goranson is going to be baptized as a believer in Jesus and you’re invited to join in the celebration. Carol’s baptism will be on Sunday September 8th in the chapel at Heritage Estates in Gering at 2 p.m. Please join us for this special moment in Carol’s life and stay for some refreshments

  • Youth Ministry Update – God has been doing a good work in and through our students in the last year. At the annual meeting the membership affirmed a budget that included providing some compensation for the Hausman’s. Matt & Mary have recently decided to remain as volunteers instead of being paid staff. Please continue to pray for their ministry to our 7th-12 grade students.
Please take a few minutes to read through this month’s Newsletter which highlights what’s happening at Monument. You’ll find various classes, small groups, events, and programs that kick off this month. Please take advantage of the opportunities to get connected with others and grow in your walk with Jesus. May our hearts trust and rejoice in God’s goodness and grace as we strive to develop dedicated followers of Jesus Christ who worship, grow, love, and share all for the glory of God. I love you and am praying for you – serve Him well!

At the end of August, we held our FALL KICK-OFF SUNDAY! It was a fun time for all, and even though it was a little hot, it didn't spoil our time. We were thankful it wasn't rainy and windy! Thank you to Mike Blue and his team for grilling, to Kevin Kaufman and Pepsi for the donation of drinks, and to Emma Leggott and her team for Face Painting. Plus, thanks to those who came early and stayed late to set it all up and tear it down, and to those who lent out their canopies and games! We are blessed with an amazing church family who loves each other well!  Here are some pictures of the event!

Children's Church Ministry

We are excited as we begin our second year of Gospel Project in the worship hour, 10:45 am-Noon, for children ages 2-5. Our 2-3's (potty trained on up) are welcome to join us in the Tot room, #102, and 4-5's are dismissed from the service at greeting time to attend class downstairs in the God Squad room, then can be picked up in the upstairs Tot room (#102) after the service. Also for our little ones, ages 0-2, we have a well-staffed nursery for them to be cared for during the service!

Mary Hausman is now doing the scheduling for the nursery and Children's Church! If you are willing to serve, please call the church office at 632-4099. Also, all of our Children's Ministry workers are invited to join us for a ministry training morning: Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM in the God Squad Room, downstairs This training is for any of our children's church leaders (2-3s and 4-5s) who have signed up to teach children's church and have not attended a training or need a refresher. This class is also for anyone who just wants to know more before jumping in! We can't wait to share with you the exciting lessons in the Gospel Project that we are exploring with our kids during the worship hour. We will be meeting in the God squad room downstairs, and there will be donuts!
