Time can be a difficult concept for young children to grasp. Talking to children about their daily and weekly routines in concrete, specific language will help them better understand how time works. Narrate your child’s day: “In the morning, you eat breakfast and get ready for school. In the evening, I pick you up and we get dinner.” Ask questions: “What takes longer, watching a movie or eating a snack?”
Encourage your child to wear a watch! Teach them the difference between hours and minutes. Older students can work on a craft project to create their own timepiece.
