Leader in Me - Habit of the Month
Be Proactive

Each month our school will have one "habit of the month" that will be highlighted across all our grades.  September's habit is Be Proactive:  I am a responsible person.  I take initiative.  I choose my actions, attitudes, and moods.  I do not blame others for my wrong actions.  I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is asking.

Weekly Activity to Support Habit:
Don’t hesitate to do what needs to be done, prioritize your tasks so your time is used wisely.

Bolts of Blue Campaign Runs Through October 4, 2019
Our Bolts of Blue Campaign is off to a great start this week.  We are excited to report that our community of supporters has donated just over $14,000 as of this morning.

The Lutz Prep PTA is working in partnership with school Administration on the 3rd annual Bolts of Blue Campaign. This one fundraising event will support the needs of our students, school, and PTA. We are requesting that each family consider making a single financial donation, which will contribute to the cost of these events and more. Specifically, your generous donation will benefit your child/children as follows:

  • Lutz Prep PTA Programs and Free Events including, but not limited to, BooHoo Breakfast, Junior Achievement, mini-grants for teachers, new technology for students, Grandparents Breakfast, SMATH Night, Field Day, and much more.
  • Lutz Prep PTA Sponsored Events including Father-Daughter Dance, Mother-Son Event, and Trunk-or-Treat.
  • “Leader in Me” Training for Faculty, Staff, and Parents These trainings, which are based on the book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey, instills a process whereby faculty, staff, and parents can effectively teach and model these habits to students. These trainings will assist students in not only becoming academically successful, but strong in character using skills that are ageless, timeless, and will lead them to success in all they do. We invite you to visit http://www.theleaderinme.org/ for more information on this exciting program.
  • School Sponsored Events including Athletics, Elementary and Middle school clubs, VPK graduation, Kindergarten celebration, 5th grade celebration, and 8th grade graduation, Leader in Me Celebrations, and Leader in Me student lead events and activities.
  • In the event that we are fortunate enough to raise more money than anticipated the additional funds will go to help make improvements to our school inside and out as well as help with operational expenses.

The fundraising goal for this campaign is $130,000. We encourage all families to participate in this fundraising campaign and to consider at least a $225 donation. However, please see the attached sponsorship opportunities as there are also other levels with additional incentives. The goal for each homeroom is $1,800 and the minimum donation to be considered and applied for the homeroom participation is $50. All homerooms who reach their goal will receive prizes. Homerooms that have 100% participation will be entered into a drawing for an age appropriate on campus field trip or special event.

We appreciate the opportunity to work with your child/children and thank you for all your support as we begin the journey of lifelong learning.  Please contact Lori Toso at (813) 428-7100 ext.154 or BoltsOfBlue@lutzprep.org if you have any questions.

How can you make a donation?

  • Donations can be paid by cash, check, or money order made payable to Lutz Preparatory School or online via PayPal through the Lutz Prep school store. Please remit all non-electronic payments to the school in an envelope addressed to “Business Manager: Diana Jenkins”
  • All sponsorships must have the sponsorship form attached at the time that the donation is remitted to ensure that your child/children receive credit for the donation.
  • For families that wish to have additional family members or a business contribute on behalf of your child/children, please combine all donations to ensure that the total donation will qualify the child/children for a specific donation level (see attached).
  • For each business that sponsors your child/children, the business will receive the advertising benefits as outlined in the attachment and the child/children will receive credit towards their homeroom goal.
  • Family and Business Sponsors will receive an official charitable donation letter within 10 business days of receipt of contribution.

The deadline is Friday, October 4th for all incentives and homeroom participation.

All Pro Dad First Meeting of the Year
Hey Dads and Kids...Welcome back!  Now that we are in the swing of things, it's time that us dads show our kids that we are on their team when it comes to the importance of school.  We can do that by being engaged and making sure that they have our attention before the busyness of the day distracts everyone.  Team up with other Lutz Prep Dads and Kids for a quick before-school breakfast on Wednesday, September 11 in the main building cafeteria.  Doors open at 7:00 AM, program with a character trait lesson starts at 7:15 and ends at 7:45. It’s fun and it’s free.  You and your kids will be glad you came!  Great way to start the morning.  Contact Ryan Martin with any questions. Reminder to bring your license to check in at the front office and receive your visitor badge.

Be there for the first breakfast of the school year.  Don't miss this month's opportunity.  This month's character trait is "Self Control".  Big Idea:  Self-control is about learning to pause before you react to something or someone. We can make choices sometimes when we are sad or angry, but those choices are not always the best. People who have self-control have learned to think about their behavior and the impact their reactions have on themselves and others.

PTA Membership Drive
Its not too late to join! Our membership drive is still going on, see our website for a membership application.  Together we can make a difference!

Conference Night - Save the Date

Thursday, September 19, 2019 4:00-7:00 PM
