Elm

...is the remedy for people suffering a temporary loss of confidence due to the overwhelming amount of responsibility they have taken on. Genuine Elm types are people who are successful and carrying out work they believe in, but at times the burden brings them down and they feel will not be able to cope.

The remedy helps to dispel these feelings so that we can resume our lives without thought of failure.

The Elm state can be usefully contrasted with that of Larch. People in the former take up challenges willingly and only occasionally doubt their abilities; it's the scale of a task, rather than the difficulty of doing something well, that causes the crisis. Larch people are convinced they are going to fail right from the start, and so tend not to try in the first place.

Essential

Oil

Grapefruit

Grapefruit essential oil is extracted from the peel and rind of grapefruit.  The citrusy and fruity aroma of this essential oil matches the scent of the fruit.  Grapefruit essential oil smells great diffused alone, or mixed with other oils such as basil, frankincense, lavender, peppermint, rosemary or bergamot.  In aromatherapy, grapefruit essential oil lifts the spirits, relieves fatigue and helps improve mood.

Several animal studies have shown interesting results that suggest that using grapefruit oil in aromatherapy can help suppress an overactive appetite and stimulate the body’s breakdown of fat tissues, thus helping with weight loss.  For this purpose, grapefruit essential oil can be diffused using an aromatherapy diffuser, or it can be properly diluted in a carrier oil and massaged into the abdomen.   The proper dilution rate for grapefruit essential oil is 4%, which is 18 drops of essential oil in 1/2oz of carrier oil (15mL).

Used in skin care, grapefruit oil stimulates the immune system, decreases fluid retention by , stimulates the body’s natural detoxification processes, and nourishes the skin.

Essential oils are extremely concentrated plant extracts.

SPOTLIGHT

Homeopathy for

Ankle Sprains

While enjoying a perfectly wonderful child-like moment of rolling down a grassy hill with your niece, you stood up too quickly and proceeded to take tumble, twisting your ankle - ouch! You remembered PRICE (Protect, Rest, Ice, Compress, and Elevate) and have been taking Arnica. They helped, but two days later it’s still swollen and painful. Now what?

Consider these follow up remedies for ankle sprains:

  • Bryonia: Sprains with severe pain. The pains are stitching and are worse for cold and the slightest movement. The sprained joint is better from rest (for keeping the joint perfectly still) and from pressure (tight bandaging).
  • Ledum palustreSprains with bruising. The joint feels cold and looks bruised (blue-black). Although the joint is cold, it feels better for ice cold compresses—the colder the better.
  • Rhus toxicodendron: Sprains with stiffness and restlessness. The pains are aching and the joint is worse when first moving it after a rest—and then better for a while with continued movement. It's hard to get comfortable in any position so a painful restlessness ensues. A sprained wrist cannot grip anything properly or strongly. Hot compresses and baths provide relief.
  • Ruta graveolens: Constant pain and lameness. The pains are more bruised than aching. Worse from pressure, standing, or walking, and there's no relief from continued movement (as there is with Rhus tox). The pains are better with heat and wrapping the joint.
  • Strontium carbonicum: Repeated, chronic sprains. For weak, swollen ankles.

Clinically Researched Liposomal Glutathione

  • Exceedingly Heat Stable Glutathione
  • Highly Absorbable Liposomal Form
  • Bolsters Antioxidant Action
  • Promotes Detoxification
  • Fortifies Immune System

The Master Antioxidant

Glutathione is a tri-peptide chain composed of three amino acids: L-glutamic acid, L-cysteine, and L-glycine.  It is known as the master antioxidant because it recycles other antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E.  Glutathione exists within the cells and is therefore in a prime position to neutralize free radicals, which can build up in cells and cause damage.  The strong antioxidant effect of glutathione keeps cell function running smoothly.

Detoxification

Glutathione helps the liver remove chemicals that are foreign to the body, such as drugs and pollutants.  The highest amounts of glutathione are found in the liver and kidneys, which are responsible for the removal of toxic components.  It’s also present in large amounts in the lung lining.  Glutathione has a unique ability to bind to toxins, heavy metals, solvents, and pesticides and helps the body excrete these substances in the urine or the bile.  The presence of glutathione in the lung lining protects against airborne pollutants and its presence in the intestinal lining bars the absorption of industrial chemicals.

Immune Fortification

Glutathione is required to maintain the normal function of the immune system.  It plays a critical role in the proper function of white blood cells, including T cell lymphocytes and the multiplication of lymphocytes (the cells that mediate specific immunity).  Adequate function of white blood cells is essential in mounting an effective immune response.  Many chronically ill patients have depleted levels of glutathione.
