Stop by the Market Square Farmers Market from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., presented by Green Mountain Energy, to grab your weekly produce, fresh flowers, and try new local goods! 

Friday, September 13
New this year, World Square takes place from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.  After an exciting first week last Friday, Market Square will once again be alive with sights, sounds, and tastes of the international and immigrant communities of the greater Pittsburgh area. Read more about this week below. 

Saturday, September 14
In the evening, stop by the Saturday Night Market! Every Saturday through October, from 5:00 - 10:00 p.m., shop local artists and vendors and enjoy free live music. This week, on the Pittsburgh City Paper Stage, don't miss live music presented by Weather Permitting

WORLD SQUARE CONTINUES THIS FRIDAY

World Square kicked off last Friday, September 6, with beautiful weather and a friendly atmosphere as Pittsburgher's welcomed neighbors from around the world. 

The new event continues this Friday, September 13 from 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. Check out new and returning vendors, plus more live entertainment on the World Square Stage.

5:00 – 5:40 p.m.: Geña y Peña (Latin American/Carribbean)
6:00 – 6:45 p.m.: Jemiriye (Nigerian Singer) 
7:00 – 7:45 p.m.: Noel Quintana & The Latin Crew (Latino Band)
8:30 – 8:45 p.m.: Naina Kathak (Indian Dance) 
9:00 – 9:45 p.m.: TBA

LOCAL ARTIST'S NEW PROJECT CELEBRATES LITERACY AND IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCES

Next time you’re waiting for a bus, see if you can spot a new public art project that celebrates literacy and immigrant experiences.

The installation, titled “Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been?” was created by artist Mary Tremonte and her partners at Literacy Pittsburgh.

The artwork displays colorful portraits of students from Literacy Pittsburgh who have participated in the Office of Public Art’s Residences with Immigrant and Refugee Communities artist residency. The project will be on display on several Port Authority bus lines from now until October 30, 2019. Read more.

OKTOBERFEST COMES TO DOWNTOWN AT PENN BREWERY

For the first time, Penn Brewery is bringing their popular Oktoberfest celebration to Downtown at their First Ave. Taproom and Kitchen! 

The block party will take place Friday, September 13 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. on First Avenue. Featuring cold beer and a full bar inside, plus grilled sausages, fruit, and music outside by DJ Breis Gordan outside to celebrate.

EARLY NOTICE: RAD DAYS RETURN NEXT WEEK WITH FREE ADMISSION, TOURS, CONCERTS, & MORE

The Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) will be hosting their annual RADical Day events beginning next Thursday, September 19 and running through Sunday, October 13. RADical Days give back to the community through free admission and events at a variety of local institutions.

RAD’s mission is to support and finance regional assets in the areas of libraries, parks and recreation, cultural, sports and civic facilities, and programs. This year marks the 25th anniversary of RAD and to celebrate, they are hosting this year’s events over 25 days. Heads up: while free, some programs require advance registration and may fill up. Downtown events that RAD will be hosting include free admission to a Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra concert, the Heinz History Center, tours of PPG Paints Arena, and more. See a full list of Downtown events included as part of RADical Days.

Coneman Tip of the Week: Third Round of Port Authority's Quarterly Service Adjustments

Port Authority of Allegheny County’s third-quarter service changes officially went into effect on Sunday, September 1, with 11 total bus lines impacted. Using passenger counts by stop and time, customer input, and operator feedback, Port Authority’s Schedule Department continues to tweak schedules on a quarterly basis striving to improve on-time performance and increasing the efficiency of service systemwide. If your bus line is one of the 11 impacted, be sure to go to Port Authority’s website for more information or call customer service at 412-442-2000 for information regarding new schedules and service changes.

19L - Emsworth Limited: departure times and schedules have been adjusted; on weekdays, the route will now serve Penn Station and connect to the East Busway, but will no longer serve Chatham Center on weekday afternoons
 
21 - Coraopolis: minor schedule adjustments made; service to return to Neville Island
 
36 - Banksville: travel and departure times have been adjusted throughout the day
 
52L - Homeville Limited: departure times and schedules have been adjusted; additional trips, both inbound and outbound, have been added
 
Y1 - Large Flyer: departure times and schedules have been adjusted; bus stops at Century III Mall have been consolidated and the Park-and-Ride has also been relocated to the stop south of JCPenney
