Join CITY's Tim Grivois-Shah, Ed.D. and Tessa Brock for this important workshop for educators and all others who work with youth.

Traumatic stress can affect how students learn. Trauma informed practice is about creating learning spaces where all students are fed, safe and loves so that our children who have experienced trauma can achieve to their highest potential.

Participants will learn how trauma affects the brain and how children who have experienced trauma can heal.

NOTE: This workshop is now on 16 November 2019.

What would need to change for all children to attend a school equipped to break cycles of poverty and violence?

Join us on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 6:15pm for a screening of Paper Tigers, a film that follows a year in the life of six students at an alternative high school that has radically changed its approach to supporting students who have experience severe psychological trauma.

All of Tucson is invited to view the film and to stay for a powerful panel discussion after. The suggested donation for this event is $6.00.

This year's Fall Film Screening is presented in partnership with Youth on Their Own, and 50% of all donations collected will support their efforts to support homeless youth in Pima County.

Be skillful and confident in leading conversations about race.

Friday, 6 September, 4:30pm to 7:00pm, Dr. Kathryn Nakagawa will lead an interactive presentation on racial literacy at the Sorting Out Race exhibit at the Arizona State Museum.

Then, on Saturday, 7 September, 8:30am to 3:30pm, Teaching Tolerance will host a workshop on creating learning environments where critical conversations on race can take place.

Registration is $49, and includes both days, reception, lunch, materials, and parking. Please note that there are two different locations for this event.
