WATCH THE VIDEO: Following on from the success of their recent Artspace Mackay exhibition Take Root (Colony): Project Another Country, internationally-acclaimed artists Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan took up residency in the Mackay City Centre to re-work a section of their Mackay installation from August 26 to September 6. The artist duo created a new work to be shown in Melbourne and are working on a series of prints from the cardboard house creations, which will become part of the permanent Mackay Regional Council Art Collection. To create these prints, Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan will collaborate with Townsville-based master printmaker Ron McBurnie to create a series of collagraphs from the cardboard house creations developed during the Take Root project. The artists devised an innovative way to create these collagraph plates by calling on council’s own road crew to flatten sections of the installation with a road roller.
