We are happy to announce the closing of a new conservation easement in Shasta County. This easement will ensure the conservation of this area which is comprised of separate 3 parcels totaling 66 acres. Located in the South Cow Creek Watershed, this incredible property is situated in the volcanic foothills of the southern Cascade Range in northern California.
The land serves as an important home for our local wildlife. The creeks provide spawning grounds for fall run Chinook Salmon and Steelhead Trout and the Blue Oak woodlands are breeding grounds for the Cow Creek deer herd. In addition, the property is home to foothill yellow-legged frogs and northwestern pond turtles.
With this newly completed easement, Shasta Land Trust will preserve this beautiful and important wildlife habitat for many generations to come. We would like to thank our partners, the Stewardship Council and Pacific Gas and Electric, along with our donors, as such support allows us to conserve the beauty, character and diversity of significant lands in far northern California.
