Let's face it, we are always on the hunt for new patrolling members. And this season is no different.

This season is the season, that we are going to train up a big group of newbies. It doesn't matter how much experience you have on the beach, we'll show you the ropes. There are not many beaches in Goulburn where Troy grew up, and now he's our Club Captain!

It doesn't matter how fit you are, or how fast you can swim, that will come. Pair up with a training buddy and be Gumby's together!

This season is the opportunity for you, your family members and friends to sign up, learn some really handy life skills (like saving a life) and have some fun along the way. The more volunteers that we have to call on, the lesser commitment everyone has to make.

C'mon, get involved and make it even more fun by getting your bestie in on the action too.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Ben recently sent out a message about courses coming up at the club. There have been a number of changes to these including the dates. We have two courses now confirmed for Saturday 28th September and Sunday 29th September being SMBM (Patrol captain) and ARTC (advanced resus).
Most of our members do not have these qualifications so this is a great opportunity to get them. We would like everyone possible to do the SMBM... not because we expect you to be a patrol captain but as a back up for when captains are unable to attend and also so that you have a better understanding of how it works. The ARTC course is also a great one to gain extra skills and confidence with.

Please do everything you can to be available if possible.... and can you please email me to advise if you are attending ASAP as there are limited numbers and the branch is also being invited.

NSW SLS Excellence Awards

A special message to our Far South Coast Lifesavers, Clubbies, Nippers, family, friends and Sponsors,

I am so proud to inform you all that you have been recognised at the highest level for your outstanding efforts and support in keeping our beaches safe and building better communities through our surfclubs.

At the SLS NSW Awards of Excellence on Saturday night we were AGAIN awarded the SLSNSW Branch of the Year for the 2018/2019 season. Back to back for the FSC.

The FSC was shortlisted from the 11 Branches in the State and selected as one of only 4 finalists along with the Far North Coast, Central Coast and Sydney Branch.

Within our small Far South Coast towns and communities, our surf clubs are the glue that helps to keep our coastal communities working and playing together and our beautiful beaches safe.

On the same night we were so proud to be presented with no less than 3 additional major awards:

  • SLS NSW Volunteer of the Year went to Wendy Law from the Broulee Surfers SLSC and the FSC Director of Finance
  • SLS NSW Presidents Medal went to Cheryl McCarthy, Bermagui SLSC and the FSC Director of Lifesaving
  • SLS NSW Innovation of the Year Award went to the FSC - Development of Joint Operations Search and Rescue Capability.

We also had several other nominees who did an outstanding job during the season.

Thank you all of our lifesavers for contributing your valuable time and supplying the social capital that's required by our surf life saving clubs to be able to continue to build great Australians and better communities.

Not resting on our laurels and with your continued help, we look forward to another cracking season and hope to catch you on the beach soon.

Tony Rettke
Very proud President
