Booster News
Our meeting was this past Weds. There was lots to talk about & we actually ran over by about 15 minutes because of it! There is some good news for families regarding Scrip purchases. (Keep scrolling to find it!) We also got senior gifts chosen for our marching band seniors. Additionally, we have a new fundraiser that we'll be excited to share with you when the time comes.
WE NEED HELP. We've got 3 main officers who will be graduating in May: president, treasurer, and secretary. Our concert uniform chair is retiring, too. That means we're looking for people who want to be involved, who want to take on some important roles. We've got a band trip we're doing some fundraising for. There will be football games, Collage Concerts, Festivals and more to staff.
If you're new to the program, welcome! Don't be afraid to jump in. There are many jobs that need to be done, both big and small. If you're a returning parent, please help our new families learn the ropes! Share your experiences, talk about the friends you've made and the laughs you've had.

ALL THINGS CONCERT ATTIRE
REMINDER: students must return a signed contract in order to take their garment bags containing their assigned concert wear home. Once the contract is signed and turned in, the bag will magically appear in the back hallway near the stage entrance on a rack with a sign reading "these bags can go home".
Tuxedo shirt order forms are due NO LATER than Tuesday, 9/17. If you ordered a shirt you have to be in school the following Tuesday, 9/24, to be measured for it.
And, finally - The search for a Concert Attire Chairperson continues! With all the great volunteer support this year we completed the process today - weeks earlier than last year! We've gotten it down to an efficient system. It's really an easy job, just a little time consuming end of August to mid-September. And it's SUPER rewarding, meeting the students and parent volunteers. I will train whoever steps forward! My new job begins, officially, Nov 1. So, c'mon! Do this as a generous THANK YOU to the band directors and students for all the work they put in to WLN's high quality music programs! NO SEWING SKILLS NECESSARY!
Disney Trip
We've had some people who are interested in joining us on this trip. You can join up until the final payment is due if you can meet certain specifications: you must fill out the Disney Registration Form AND make a payment that brings you up to date with everyone else. (IE If you decide on Nov. 3 to join the trip, you must submit a payment equal to the 3 payments already due ($1110/person) and be ready to make the next payment on Nov. 11. You can see the payment schedule HERE.) We have a tentative itinerary but should have a firmer one soon.
Checks should be made payable to WLNMB and marked Disney trip in the Memo line. They can be dropped off with the trip registration form in 2 places at the school: in the front office, in an envelope marked "Mary Hulliberger - Disney trip" or in the band box, which is a locked box just outside Mrs. H's office door in the band room. Alternatively, you can mail it to the school, addressed:

Homecoming is tonight! The parade should begin around 530pm. Tailgating is permitted. Game time is at 7pm; our Marching Knights will be ready to march on to the field around 645pm.

Help Needed: We are looking for parents who are willing to handle purchasing (reimbursable!) white carnations for each of our marching band seniors & also additional parents who are willing to help with pinning carnations on said seniors before the festivities on Oct. 18. Our uniform chair, Jessica Mukavetz, does such a great job fitting our Marching Knights. The job she does is a BIG one. Jessica could likely use some help in the form of a co-chair. If you'd like to learn the ropes, let her know. jmukavetz@yahoo.com
We are also looking for someone to take over a couple of band camp related roles for next summer. Our current section olympics chair is graduating & needs to be replaced. Additionally, we need someone to coordinate the post-camp sub lunches (collect money, order & distribute subs). Please let Mo Seifert know if you're interested in one or both of these roles. The MI Daily 3 Raffle: We are in the home stretch for raffle ticket sales! Get those stubs and money in to the band box! Let's make this a great moneymaker for our Year of Yes & Disney trip!
Better Made Chips by the case: We've sent out the order forms for the chips fundraiser. Order forms with payment are due no later than Sept. 30. However, there is no school on Sept. 30, so Sept. 27 is a great day to shoot for! Turnaround time for the chips is about 2 weeks, so look for a delivery date sometime mid-October. You will have them well before Halloween!
31 Bags: Coming in November: We will be having an online 31 Bags party to benefit the Disney trip. The party will be open and running from Nov. 1-30. Orders will be place & paid for online, with delivery direct to your home. The link for the party will be posted on the marching band Facebook page, the Boosters Facebook page, the Boosters' website, and will be sent out via Charms. Look for that at the end of October!

Scrip
 So we teased Scrip news in the Booster notes above... Traditionally, during trip years, Boosters has designated 1 month when Scrip incentive money, instead of being split 50/50 between student and Boosters, will be given entirely to the student with the idea of helping defray trip costs. We're switching it up just a bit this year...
For the month of November, only purchases of ScripNow (electronic gift cards) and card reloads will be eligible for this bonus. We will not be applying this bonus to purchases of physical gift cards; it is only good for electronic/e-gift cards and reloads of existing cards. 100% of the incentive money earned from ScripNow & card reloads for the entire month of November will be given to the designated student's account. Those incentive dollars can be used to make trip payments, camp payments, pay for instrument repairs & lessons. Take advantage!
Wondering about e-gift cards for gift giving? Some of them can be scheduled to send on a particular date to the recipient. You can also print them yourself & package them in whatever cute ways you come up with. Thinking outside the box can help you generate some real money to be used for incentive purposes.
What is Scrip? FAQ! Our Scrip program is an ongoing fundraiser. It runs all year, with order pickups on Thursday evenings in the Commons at WLN, 5:30p-6:30 (Please confirm with Missy that she'll be at the school on pickup day! Her schedule has gotten crazy because of work.) Scrip is the ONLY way to accumulate fundraising funds specifically for your student! It's a great way to pay for camp,trips, lessons, or instrument repairs. Start accumulating your Scrip dollars now for those future big purchases!
