News and Reflections of and about Northwest Yearly Meeting
NWYM is a Christ-centered, discerning, inter-generational community of Friends, committed to discipleship and outreach to impact society locally and globally.
Christ called the Church- that’s YOU! What’s He calling YOU to? Will YOU answer His call? This is an opportunity for anyone, teens to octogenarians, and all ages in between, to listen to God’s prompting into ministry.
In partnership with NWYM and George Fox University, the Board of Leadership Development and Enrichment (BoLDE) is offering a Call to Ministry Conference on Friday evening, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. The conference will provide opportunities to consider a calling into a vocational ministry for your life and/or into a short-term ministry for a season. There will be Friends in attendance that have experience in multiple areas of ministry that will be able to meet with you, answer questions, and help you explore the necessary steps to prepare you for the journey.
There is no cost to attend the conference, but we do need attenders to complete the registration form as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. The link below takes you to the NWYM web page. From this link you can access a (back to back) brochure and register directly online.
75th Anniversary Celebration for Netarts Friends Church!
The 75th Anniversary of Netarts Friends Church will be celebrated on November 3rd. We will be celebrating the history of God's faithfulness at NFC, and sharing memories of experiences together. We invite all who have had connections with us over the years to join us for this celebration.
The worship service will begin at 9:30 AM Nov 3 (Daylight Savings Time ends that day), and we will have a potluck celebration meal to follow.
Youth Ministry Grant available for Churches
Hi everyone, it is the end of August and before we know it Bible Quizzing will be here and we will be ready to start another year. I want to invite and encourage all churches to get involved with the Bible Quizzing program! It is a great opportunity for the youth to get deeper into studying the Bible and have fun doing so. It also encourages and promotes relationships across the Yearly Meeting. You only need 3 youth to have a team! Even if you just have one who is interested, we can find them another team to be a part of!
The Yearly Meeting has a grant in place to help churches who are starting a new team. This can help offset or cover the cost of supplies you need to get started. Visit the NWYM Bible Quizzing web page, which includes the link to the grant application: http://nwfriends.org/ministries/by-age/youth/bible-quizzing/
If you want more information or want your church to be involved this year you can talk to me (email at jacob@meridianfriends.org) or Terrilene Smith who runs the NWYM Quizzing Program (email - ctadsmith@hotmail.com or phone - 208-284-2784).

Share Call 2019
Star Community Friends Church Parsonage Roof
The Share Call Program is a way of doing together what we can’t do separately. Churches in Northwest Yearly Meeting receive a helping hand from individuals throughout the Yearly Meeting. You can make a difference for this church.
The first parsonage in Star was purchased in 1918 for $800 which included furniture. In 1925 the building of a new parsonage was authorized at the estimated cost of $1600. Completed in 1926, it was later moved to its present location in 1967 to make room for the construction of the present church facility.
In 1988 Star Friends Church purchased the nearly 4 acre Star Camp Meeting property which completed the current campus of the present church.
The Lord has blessed Star Friends in many ways which include this rich resource of property and facility. Star Church continues to trust God for the additional challenges of maintenance and provision for necessary upgrades.
Will you consider partnering with Star Community Friends Church to re-roof their parsonage?
