Help Provide Relief for Hurricane Dorian through MTW
Hurricane Dorian Devastates Bahamas
By the latest estimates, roughly 72,000 people have been impacted by Hurricane Dorian: roads flooded, lives lost, homes and businesses destroyed. The vast majority of the destruction was centered on the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama, and around 5,000 people have been evacuated to New Providence, the island where Nassau is located. On Sunday, October 6, the Mercy Ministry offering taken by the Oakwood Deacons, which is taken at the beginning of the last song, will be given to Mission to the World"s (MTW's) Compassion fund to help provide relief for the Bahamas. You can find more information about MTW and how these funds will be used at https://www.mtw.org/stories/details/0903-hurricane-dorian. Checks should be written to Oakwood as usual and all monies from the collection will go to hurricane relief. Get Connected as Part of a Small Group!

Small groups at Oakwood are safe places where people can grow deeper in their love for God as they grow deeper in their friendships with others.
September 22 is the last week to sign up for one of Oakwood’s Small Groups! Our desire is that everyone who attends Oakwood will connect with other believers through a small group. We have different types, different times, and different places, so make sure you stop by our small group tables and talk to someone about what’s available. 4th Friday Event at 2000 Degrees

Mark your calendars for this month's 4th Friday on September 27 at 7:00 pm for a night at 2000 degrees! A reservation has been made for 12 people, but don't worry, there's room to expand. Oakwood Golf Tournament

When: Oct. 12, Shotgun start at 9:00 am
Where: Skytop Golf Course
Who: Anyone who wants to play golf. All names will be put on team’s randomly, unless you have a friend who is not a part of Oakwood who wants to play, then they will be put on your team.

Share the Love of Jesus through Operation Christmas Child
Fill a Shoe Box by November 24
The 2019 Operation Christmas Child Missions Project provides all of us with a simple way to show love to needy children across the world with a shoe box filled with gifts. Gifts can be health-related like combs and toothbrushes, or educational like pens, pencils, erasers and tablets and some are fun like balls, jump rope, dolls or stuffed animals. Children who have never received a gift before are amazed that someone across the world would send them a box filled with gifts. Each box provides an opportunity for a child to hear Jesus' message of love.
OCC has reached over 150 countries and millions of boys and girls with the message of Jesus. The Greatest Journey booklet is placed in each box. Children are invited to attend 12 Bible lessons that teach about Jesus' love for them. They also receive a certificate and a New Testament Bible when they graduate. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of the box is eternal!
There will be a table in the Gathering Space with more information for gift ideas and items which should not be packed. Boxes can be packed for a boy or girl and in various age level categories. Shoe boxes are available for packing or you can provide your own. A donation of $9.00 is requested for each box to help cover shipping costs. Boxes will be collected until Sunday, November 24. Please consider filling a shoe box as a family and share the love of Jesus with a child!
