Your successs has led to our success and it was great to welcome you for an early July visit.
"This was the single best attended CLE Travelbackers Discovery Event in the last five years with over 75 participants plus their guests for a total of nearly 125 people. It was a fantastic way to connect with our hospitality community prior to hosting our biggest event of the year, the MLB All-Star Game".
Eric Embacher, Visitor Experience Program Manager, Destination Cleveland
With curriculums created by Director of Programming and Engagement Margaret Reardon, League Park Academy offers fun and educational sessions to young people, teaching them that the lessons of success in baseball are the lessons of success in life.
For the third summer League Park Academy partnered with the City of Cleveland and The Cleveland Indians on A.C.E Academy, the summer camp program for children from Fatima Family Center and Lexington Bell Community Center.
The City provided instruction on baseball skills and the Indians provided shirts and hats. Pictured above: campers doing a Museum Scavenger Hunt and an exercise on Roberto Clemente with help from University Circle Inc. Futures Connections Program Interns

Bases to Bleachers
July 26
San Francisco based author
Eric C Gray had this to say about his July 26 reading:
"Today was one of the best readings yet for Bases to Bleachers, at the Baseball
Heritage Museum at League Park in Cleveland. Many people in attendance."
Thank you so much Margaret Reardon for having me and Lynn Ellen Rhoades. Thanks Jon Leonoudakis for putting me in touch with Margaret. Thank you to friends and story contributors Sheldon L. Green, Howard Maier and Sue, Peggy Rieger Wagner for coming. What a great afternoon”.
You may recall Jon visited us last year to screen his films on women and race in baseball. Good to know our presenters are spreading the word about us!
Rocky Colavito: Cleveland's Iconic Slugger
August 17
Author Mark Sommer was in town talk about his book. His comments on the visit:
"Walking into the Baseball Heritage Museum and then seeing the dimensions of League Park was like taking a step back through time! Speaking there was a terrific experience matched only by the enthusiasm of those in attendance
And where else can you see a Cleveland Buckeyes jersey?"
The Museum got a shout out in the in the book's acknowledgements. And since it was Rocky's actual birthday we of course had a cake.
Baseball Ireland
August 19

September at the BHM
It's Fall Ball Time!
The Museum is taking everything to the next level these days, including our sponsorship of Fall Ball. For two years, the Museum has sponsored a team, the BHM Buckeyes, in this local league that provides the youth of Cleveland an opportunity to develop skills in a competitive league during the non-traditional fall season. Coached by Director of Baseball Activities Jay Murphy with the assistance of lifelong community coach Chuck Carter, the Museum has two teams playing this year. And each on field coaching session has an educational component supported by League Park Academy which we just told you about.
Check out the schedule here and come cheer on our team!
If you have an interest in helping with the BHM Fall Baseball Program, or any onfield activities, contact Jay at jay@baseballheritagemuseum.org or call 216-978-8168.
Mrs. Morhard and the Boys and “The Little World Series” at League Park
Saturday September 14 at 1 :00 pm
"Out of a dream, an empty lot, and the enthusiasm of other neighborhood kids, Josephine established the first boys’ baseball league in America."
Read more here.
2019 is the 78TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST “LITTLE WORLD SERIES,” SHE HELD IN LEAGUE PARK!
Author Ruth Hanford Morhard will discuss the book and sign copies
"A broken bedroom window, stolen signatures, and potentially millions of suspects . . . former DEA agent and now rare book dealer Ovid Kent will need all the help he can get to solve this case and find the purloined penmanship. Oddly enough, he gets help from the least likely source, or is that just a hallucination brought on by a blow to the head? Throw in a beautiful nurse, an eventful trip back to his hometown, and it all adds up to a mystery that will have you wondering, will Ovid strike out, or will he hit it out of the park?"
