Working Hard for South Wimbledon - September Update
Station Road development - exhibition THIS THURSDAY
Developers' illustration of Abbey Wall Works development
We know how important it is to build new homes and create new job opportunities locally. But we also know that residents often have legitimate concerns about new developments in their area that will inevitably affect them, and that they want to be involved in such proposals as early as possible.

So we wanted to let you know about a new proposed development, Abbey Wall Works, on the stretch between Station Road and Merantun Way, where the garages are. A company called indigoScott have a proposal to create 75 homes and commercial workspace there, in a building of between 4 and 7 storeys.

This is a draft proposal, not a planning application. They are holding a public exhibition to seek the views of local residents. As your local councilors, we will be there, and we think it is important that those living nearby provide feedback on the proposal.

The details of the public exhibition are:

Thursday 26th September, 12 – 19.15pm
South Wimbledon Community Centre
Victory Road, SW19 1HN

You can also view the proposals at https://rapleys.com/consultation/abbeywallworks/

And please do let us know your thoughts. We want to make sure that residents’ voices are heard.
High Path - changes and challenges

We have been out speaking to residents on the High Path estate over the past couple of weekends.

We encountered a number of people that had concerns, questions and issues that they don't feel Clarion had addressed, but who hadn't thought of coming to us for help. If you or one of your neighbours wants us to advocate on their behalf, please do make sure they have our phone numbers and emails: Eleanor (07951 441118, eleanor.stringer@merton.gov.uk) and Ben (07969 088 646, ben.butler@merton.gov.uk)

It was good to see the building works progressing on both the Phase 1 of the estate regeneration and the new Harris Wimbledon school, which is due to open in September 2020. We know this is going to be a time of change for lots of residents. We want to help make sure the developments are positive for you and the local area. If you have any questions about them, do let us know.

Have your say on Community Safety!

Every year Safer Merton carry out a strategic assessment, which looks at all community safety issues in the borough. As part of this process, a survey is conducted to find out the communities concerns in relation to crime, anti-social behaviour and drugs and alcohol.

The results of the survey combined with an analysis of all crimes that happen in the borough help Safer Merton set the partnership's priorities for the year.

Car Free Day - a great success!

Merton Council encouraged residents across the borough to host play streets today, to mark World Car Free Day.

We organised one on Deburgh Road, and despite the rain, it was a great success! Thanks to everyone who helped out and got involved.

If you would like to organise a street party or similar event, let us know and we'll help you.

That's all for now! We hope you found this update useful.
