Synopsis:
On 09-21-2019 at about 6:20 AM Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to contact a person who wanted to report an armed robbery that occurred earlier in the morning at a residence in the 900 block of McNab Ranch Road in Ukiah, California.

Deputies responded to a Redwood Valley residence and contacted a 43 year-old adult male from Potter Valley, California.

This adult male reported that he was one of two victims of an armed robbery.    The other adult male (from Ukiah, California) was located at another residence in Ukiah and was interviewed by Deputies.

The adult males informed Deputies they were providing guard duty at a marijuana cultivation operation on a property located in the 900 block of McNab Ranch Road in Ukiah, California.

The adult males indicated at about 1:45 AM on 09-21-2019 they were surprised by a group of six to eight (6-8) Hispanic male subjects who were wearing masks and were armed with firearms.

One of the adult males was in his vehicle on the property when confronted by the armed group of suspects.  The adult male attempted to flee in his vehicle when one of the subject’s discharged a firearm at him while he was in his vehicle.  The adult male was then forcefully taken from his vehicle and kicked several times causing injury to his face.

Both adult males were tied up and placed on the ground while the suspects proceeded to load a vehicle with growing marijuana plants from two green houses on the property.  The suspects also took one of the adult male’s cellular phones and his vehicle.

Both adult males were able to free themselves from their restraints after the suspects had left the area.

Both adult males walked from the property towards Ukiah as one of their vehicles had been damaged by gunfire and the other was stolen.

As they were walking towards Ukiah they found the stolen vehicle abandoned on the side of the road on McNab Ranch Road.  They then drove to Ukiah and called 911 to report the incident.

Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Patrol Deputies and Detectives from the County of Mendocino Marijuana Enforcement Team (COMMET) responded to the property where the incident had occurred.

The scene was processed and evidence consistent with the reported armed robbery was observed and collected.

The investigation into the reported incident is still ongoing at this time by COMMET Detectives.

Nothing at this point in the investigation has shown that the marijuana growing operation was a legally permitted cannabis growing or processing operation.

Anyone with knowledge or information about this reported incident are encouraged to contact the COMMET office at 707-463-4546, the Sheriff's Office Tip-Line at 707-234-2100 or the WeTip anonymous crime reporting hotline at 800-782-7463.
