My name is Taryn, I am a painter and I share my space with my husband who also works from home. I used to paint on the same desk that I used for my computer, which was in the corner of my bedroom, and I would take it all off and put it on the floor in order to paint. Now, I have a spacious table which I use to create and a separate one for my computer. It’s taken a while to make my space feel how I want it to, I keep adding my own work alongside cuttings and colours that inspire me. There’s a mural all over one of the walls and I would love to paint bigger in the future. I like to get lost in the world of my imagination and I’m inspired by films and theatre and really any form of storytelling with magic, depth and a touch of glamour. I love textiles and patterns and making things with my hands, I definitely feel restless when I’m not being creative. I feel that it’s only recently that my style is coming together and now there are so many things I want to explore as part of that, but there is never enough time in the day to paint everything that’s floating around in my head! I’m currently experimenting with painting on wood and also handmade paper which I love because both surfaces offer up raw, organic textures, beautiful on their own.
