Easy Readers, Read-Alouds, and Childhood Around the World
Erin is on leave until October 3. Fortunately she created some reading lists for us to share while she is away! This week there are three lists: Easy Readers, Read-Alouds, and Childhood Around the World. You'll find them in the Recommended Reading section below.
While Erin's away, we're taking a break from afternoon programming -- but not from story times! Monday and Wednesday story times are continuing on the usual schedule.

Fantastic Easy Readers
It can be difficult to find a book that is not-too-easy and not-too-hard and is still interesting. These are some of the books I recommend to kids who are learning to read. They won't work for all kids, but they're a place to start.

Chapter Books to Read Aloud
Almost nothing is sweeter than snuggling together to read a book. Reading together is also one of the best ways to support children learning to read. Don't feel like you need to limit your choices to sweet books -- some of our most popular books for this phase are dramatic tales like The Hobbit, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and The Phantom Tollbooth.

Childhood Around the World
How is childhood different or similar in other places around the world? These books give a glimpse of other lives, and looking at other lives can help us see our own.
