Planned Traffic Counts in Lexington

VDOT has reported that The Traffic Group, Inc. has been contracted by VDOT's Central Office to conduct traffic counts in our area. The traffic information to be collected by these counts is very important for management of the road network and required reporting of traffic volume information to the Federal government. Traffic counting equipment will be installed throughout our area starting the week of September 16, 2019 and continuing through October 25, 2019, weather permitting. VDOT will be conducting 48 hour volume and classification traffic counts. Citizens can expect to see traffic road tubes across the lanes of travel secured to a traffic counting device roadside. Published traffic data is available on VDOT’s website: http://www.virginiadot.org/info/ct-TrafficCounts.asp
City Curbside Leaf Collection
City Curbside Leaf Collection will begin on October 21, 2019! This service is included in the overall operating budget of public works.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
🍁 Public works will do 3 one-week runs in each of the four city sections throughout the season
🍁 The neighborhood schedule is dependent upon the rate of fall, the amount of leaves placed out for collection, and weather conditions
🍁 Loose leaves should be raked or bagged at the edge of the curb/pavement on your scheduled collection week
🍁 Leaf piles should not block streets or sidewalks
🍁 Avoid piling at stormwater collection inlets
🍁 Be careful not to include rocks or large pieces of wood in leaf piles

After the loose leaf collection cycle is over, leaves must be bagged in order to be picked up with regular solid waste runs. Call Public Works at 540-463-3154 with any questions.
