Jason Burnley Stout is machinist and toolmaker from Tennessee who uses that background in his knife designs. Stout likes to focus on knives that are tools meant to be used hard and for generations.

That shines through our latest Badass Knife of the Week.

The Boker Plus Lateralus makes one of his custom designs more affordable to the masses and hits all the right marks in a good working knife.

The Lateralus is a robust and sturdy knife with a sexy and thoughtful design.

Stretching 3.7 inches long, the dark black stonewashed D2 tool steel blade features an excellent cutting belly and strong point. It also has a fuller near the spine and jimping for better control. The blade springs open reliably with a flipper tab.

A large index finger notch allows the user to choke up on the blade when needed.
Complementing the blade is a dark black stonewashed stainless steel handle with milling for weight reduction. The back side of the handle works as a framelock to keep the blade engaged.

The ergonomics on this knife are well considered, and the design has been tested for hard-use in real world applications. When you have a job that needs to get done, reach for the Lateralus.
