Monday Night Sneak Preview at LantarenVenster
If you can't wait for your Japanese film fix, come to the CAMERA JAPAN SNEAK PREVIEW on Monday 23 September. Buy your tickets for the 21:30 screening on the LantarenVenster website or at the box office.
Wednesday Night Kick-off at WORM!
On September 25, WORM is once again hosting the kickoff where we will screen A Dobugawa Dream (WATANABE Asato, 82 min, 2018). The lead actor, KITAGAKI Yuwa, will be at the screening. Do come and meet him. After the film, electronic music duo WaqWaq Kingdom
will round off the evening with a hypnotic live performance. Buy advance tickets here.
Thursday Opening at LantarenVenster
On September 26, film screenings start at 14:00. The official opening at 19:30 features The Walking Fish (Thessa MEIJER, 2019), the Dutch submission for the Academy Awards in the Best Live Action Short category, followed by the international première of Little Miss Period (SHINADA Shunsuke, 75 min, 2019), a colourful and charming comedy.
Friday Baby Screening
We are taking the Youth theme seriously at CAMERA JAPAN. On Friday at 12:15, there will be a baby screening for parents with very young youngsters. The film is the lovely Okinawan Blue (KISHIMOTO Tsukasa, 96 min, 2018). The sound will be muted, the lights only partly dimmed, and there will be space for baby strollers. (Big babies are also welcome.)
Friday Night CAMERA JAPAN Quiz
There's another chance to show off your quirky knowledge of Japan at the second CAMERA JAPAN Quiz. Teams of max. four members compete against each other for eternal glory and CAMERA JAPAN goodie bags. Entry is free. To reserve a table email quiz@camerajapan.nl.

Become a friend of the CAMERA JAPAN Festival
From small beginnings in 2006, CAMERA JAPAN has grown into the biggest Japanese cultural festival in the Benelux. Every year, we work hard to screen a broad and diverse cross-section of current Japanese cinema and to organize a substantial side programme with strong links to Japanese culture.

But, like so many other cultural organisations and institutions, CAMERA JAPAN has been hit by decreasing subsidies and rising costs. Thinking about new ways to finance the festival and to offer more value to you, the audience, we came up with the CAMERA JAPAN Kurabu ("kurabu" is the Japanese for club).

The CAMERA JAPAN Kurabu is not a one-off fundraising initiative like Kickstarter, but an opportunity for us to develop long-term relationships with fans of CAMERA JAPAN. You will play a key part in keeping the festival going and you will help us create what we like to think is a very special experience in the Netherlands. So, are you a Momo, an Ume, or a Sakura?

All the details are on our website.
This festival is part of the Rotterdam Festivals.
