8TH GRADE FIELD TRIP
On Wednesday, September 25th, the 8th graders will be taking a walking field trip to Bushrod Park, where students will be competing in their Advisory/Algebra groups. They will also be having a picnic lunch at the park as well as a possible talent show pending participation. Students and teachers will be leaving Claremont around 9 am and returning around 1:20 pm. We are looking for at least 4 more parent chaperones to help with this retreat. If anyone is available and interested in attending as a chaperone, please email Mr. Galvan.
TARDY DETENTIONS
This year, in an attempt to minimize 1st-period tardiness as a result of students going to stores, 1st-period tardies will count towards tardy detention. However, we do realize that many of our families experience traffic and other unforeseen circumstances that may result in being tardy 1st period. If this does occur, please call the office (510) 654-7337 ext. 5002, email Ms. Gonzalez, or send your student with a signed note verifying the tardy so that they don't need to serve detention for that tardy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your grade level dean.
A NOTE FROM MS. KENNY IN THE LIBRARY
Thank you to the people who dropped off books to be donated to the library last week! If you brought a donation of books to the front office last week, please contact me so that I can thank you and talk with you more about the books.
If you would like to donate books to the library, please contact me so that I can inform you of the proper procedure for book donations. While donations are gratefully accepted, there are details to discuss and guidelines that need to be followed. Please do not bring books to the front office or to the library without contacting me first. Contact: Grace Kenny or 510-654- 7337
Thank you very much for your support of the library!
FINAL FRIDAY COFFEE & TEA ONE DAY EARLY
Due to no school for students next Friday (see above important dates), there will be coffee, tea & sweets in the Claremont Garden for parents and teachers on Thursday, September 26th from 8 – 9am. This is a great opportunity to connect and get to know others in our CMS community! See you there.
FOOD FOR FAMILIES SURVEY
This school year, Claremont Middle School is planning on starting a food donation program called “Food for Families” The program would collect and offer surplus edible food from the cafeteria share table and kitchen and distribute it to our students' families. This survey is to get a sense of interest and preferences from our students’ families about this program.
“Comida para las Familias” es un programa de donación de comida que la escuela de su hijo/a puede considerar. El programa colectaría y ofrecería la comida que queda en la “mesa de colección de comida” y de la cocina, para distribuirla a las familias de nuestros estudiantes. Esta encuesta es para tener una idea del nivel de interés y preferencia sobre este programa.
