Knowing the difference can improve your life
<<First Name>>,

Have you ever tried  to do something which you knew was simply but struggled to get it done?

Have you set simple goals but abandoned achieving them?

How often have you wondered or found yourself saying " this is so simple why can't I just get it done!?"

I've had numerous experiences, more than I care to admit to!

I kept asking myself over & over again, why couldn't I get this or that done if it's so simple?!

First I was annoyed, impatient and even angry with myself. Then I started to stop for a few moments to mediate on why a simple task was causing me such great distress and here's what I've found;
I had somehow concluded that simple meant easy. I don't know where or how but I believed if something was simple then it would be easy.

As a result I have experienced disappointment, failure, frustration, overwhelm, fear & a host of other negative emotions.
  • Goals are simple but seldom easily achieved
  • Knowing what to do is simple, doing it is not easy
  • Love is simple, not easy
  • Doing the right thing is simple not easy
  • Making a decision is simple not easy

Don't confuse simply with easy.
I can't remember exactly what it was that I was working towards and as I recognized I was becoming frustrated, I decided to clean as that usually relaxes me. As I'm cleaning I asked myself the question, "why can't I get this, it's so simple?" Suddenly it popped into my head, because it's not easy Ayana! That changed EVERYTHING for me from that moment!

Showing up day after day to do repeatedly something takes great self-discipline & focus, yes it's simple but it's not easy.

Here comes the tricky part, how to accomplish the simple things that are not easy? For me I ask myself WHY I want to accomplish these things Then I listen for the answer, I listen to my emotional and physiological response to the question.

They serve as the fuel to keep me going.

I encourage you to do the same.

The next time you feel discouraged, frustrated, because you know it is simple, remember that doesn't make it easy. Think of your why and if you have a positive emotional response then the thing is still worth going after. Let your why be your fuel!

I hope this helps you in some way!
