The Marching Patriots' Patriot Pride was on exhibition at their first competition of the season, placing second in their division and earning the award for team spirit and camaraderie (read below).
From the Director...

Congratulations to the entire band family for a fantastic day yesterday! The football game performances were spirited, and the competition went wonderfully! The volunteers were so helpful and the kids were tremendous. 

In addition to our placement as one of the top bands of the night, I'd like to acknowledge the award presented at the end of the night. The band was awarded the Esprit de Corps Award, which is given by the United States Marine Corps to the band that best demonstrates pride, professionalism, and patriotism. It makes us very proud to be recognized in those captions - character matters most when it comes to a great band experience! 

On Saturday morning, we will meet at 8:00 for the game. Please remember to park in front of the school. We will hold a short warmup and rehearsal to prepare for the game. We anticipate the game finishing around 1:30.

CONCESSIONS HELP NEEDED FOR THIS SATURDAY

NEW PROCEDURE THIS YEAR:
All volunteers please sign in at your stations (Chaperones, Concessions, Trailer Crew) so that you can get credit for your time.

 
ATTENTION: HOME GAME VOLUNTEERS
This season, all band parent volunteers who are signed up for chaperone, concessions, or trailer crew will be required to pick up a field pass prior to entering the gate for the game. This will help the football volunteers who man the gate and improve the flow of people in and out, as well as allow you to skip the line to get in.

Pass locations for each area are as follows:
Chaperones: uniform room, small gray cabinet
Trailer Crew: large band trailer
Concessions: white cabinet in band room near the door
(where the band box is)

All home game volunteers should pick up a badge prior to reporting/signing in. Badges are for volunteer use only and must be turned in before you leave. As always, thank you for helping out!


Remember that all families are REQUIRED to sign up for at least 2 volunteer slots during the season.  
All volunteers are required to obtain state-mandated clearances.  For information on how to obtain clearances, click here.

September 28 Competition at West Chester High School East

The competition will begin at 5:00 PM with a performance by Fugget Middle School. CB East will perform at 5:45 as the first band in the Yankee class. The class will also include Marple Newtown (6:00), and Upper Darby (6:15). There are 12 total bands performing during the competition, including an exhibition performance by the West Chester University Marching Rams at 8:15.

10:00-1:15 Rehearsal
1:15-2:15 Load trailer, break, change into uniform (pack a lunch)
2:15-3:45 Travel to PWHS
3:45-4:30 Unload, prepare for tune-up
4:30-5:15 Tune-up
5:15-5:30 March to stadium gate
5:45 PERFORMANCE
6:10 Change into casual attire
8:45 Awards
9:15-10:45 Travel to CBE
11:00 Pick up at CBE

Parents, Grandparents & Guardians, pay tribute to the hard-working student musician in your family with a “shout out” in the band concert program.  A special way to honor your graduating senior, or recognize the talents of anyone in the band. Marching Patriots Stadium Seat Cushions on Sale!
Support your Marching Patriots and show your Patriot Pride at football games and competitions this year by purchasing a Marching Patriots seat cushion - only $10!  There are only 50 cushions, so get yours now - first come, first served!  Email Christine Junker with the number you'd like to purchase.  Checks should be made out to CB East Band Parents Assn. and put in a labeled envelope in the band box.

Invite family & friends to order online and their order will ship directly to them. Remember, your order is tax exempt and 100% of the proceeds will go to your student account!  Orders should be placed online or dropped off in the band box by Sept 30. Disney Trip Info

Information for ordering FastPasses was emailed last week.  If you have questions about the process, contact Caroline Jaroszewski.

Bob Rogers Travel offers scholarships to assist families in paying for the cost of the trip.  Visit Moments that Matter for information.

Also, we still need drivers for the equipment truck to Orlando. These drivers will depart on November 6, and meet us at the Disney resort. In the past, the drivers leave in the early hours of Sunday morning and drive straight through to East. For volunteering to drive a “luxurious” box truck to Orlando, the cost of the driver’s trip is fully covered, including meals/hotel during travel and the park experiences while we are in Orlando. Please contact Mike DeRosier if you’re interested in driving the equipment truck.

The next payment for Bob Rogers Travel is due on 10/7/19.  Please contact Treasurer Robin Dunckley at least 10 days prior if you wish to use student account money for this payment.

FUNDRAISING NEWS

Program Ad Sales 
Take advantage of the best way to put money in your student account by soliciting advertising from community businesses.  Advertising packets that include all the information you'll need for a professional presentation are available during camps, or you can print your own materials from the band website.  THE BACK COVER AND INSIDE BACK COVER HAVE BEEN SOLD!  A current list of this year's sponsors is available on the Advertiser Google Sheet.    Please do not duplicate solicitations to businesses/organizations that have already sponsored the group.  Please note: ads should be sent to Dori Amtmann at the new advertising email address CBEastMarchingBandAds@gmail.com.

Wawa Coupons
There will be 3 more Friday night games this season, usually preceded by a short rehearsal after school.   Since most students stay after school and go straight to the game, we will offer Wawa hoagie delivery on away-game Fridays.   You can purchase additional Wawa coupons from Wendy Cronin.  A pack of 10 coupons is $40.  These coupons never expire, and you receive $10 back on your student account.  Checks should be made out to CB East Band Parents Association and put in a labeled envelope in the Band Box.

Looking for a way to easily earn money towards your band expenses and trip payments?   Gift cards are a wonderful way to support the CB East Marching Patriots because they essentially don't cost you anything!  Go online to order cards for stores you normally shop in (or would like to try!), and then use those cards like cash when you shop.  In return, the Student and Band Accounts are credited with a percentage from every card sold, at no cost to you or the band. These cards also make wonderful gifts – many of them can be purchased in denominations as low as $5-10. Click here for more information on the program.
