LOS ANGELES RECORDER ORCHESTRA
|
|
|
Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra
Sunday, September 22 at 2pm
The Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra will be back at Emmanuel with its new program
“L.A. Mosaic”
Los Angeles is known for its images: the ocean, the mountains, the Spanish pueblo at its center, its ethnic neighborhoods and, of course, the “Industry”. We perceive these images visually. What would we hear if they were transformed into music? The Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra has created a program of musical pieces about the City of Angels. Several of these are works commissioned by the orchestra.
The Recorder Kids – the Laurel Hall 6th grade students Gabriel, Jack and Cheyanne and the 5th grade students Evangeline, Elisabeth, Ella and Caleb - will join the orchestra in a Renaissance medley arranged by LARO conductor Thomas Axworthy for the television series “American Princess”. Voluntary donations will be received and a reception will follow the concert.
Come and share in the excitement of LARO’s celebration of our city!

The Quilters are ready to display their handiwork for this year. The quilts will be on display in the Sanctuary on October 13 and October 20. They will be available for a donation of $45.00 each. Monies received will be used to make more quilts and to purchase items needed to complete the Personal Care Kits and Baby Care Kits we also send to Lutheran World Relief. The Quilters thank you in advance for your support and help with these projects. Questions, call Karen Ohrt 818-982-0668.

The Emmanuel Lutheran Church Stewardship Committee will be holding another Neighborhood Cleanup Day,
Saturday, October 12th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
We’re looking for volunteers from the Emmanuel Community for this worthy project. The time will count towards volunteer hours for Laurel Hall parents and students. All are welcome to join us.
Tools and supplies will be provided by The City of Los Angeles, however, it is recommended to bring your own work gloves if you have them. Volunteers should arrive at the reception room by 8:00 AM for instructions and the dispensing of equipment, so we can get to the streets by 8:30 or sooner. We will gather afterwards in the reception room for pizza, water and socializing!
We hope you can find time in your busy schedules to join in this service to our surrounding community. We’ve picked up a lot of trash the past few years and along with it the satisfaction of knowing we made a difference. We look forward to seeing you on the 12th!
Questions can be directed to
Tom Reilly: tbasreilly@hotmail.com or (818) 486-3056

EASY WAYS TO HELP LAUREL HALL
EARN MONEY!
|
|
|
Two super easy ways to earn money for Laurel Hall:
1) Ralphs: If you have a Ralphs Rewards card, you can go to Ralphs.com to register your Rewards account and then select Laurel Hall as your Community Program. Linking Laurel Hall to your Rewards card earns money for our school every time you shop at Ralphs. Fun math fact: By spending an average of $400/month at Ralphs, you can earn Laurel Hall around $150/year. If just 100 families enrolled, that’s $15,000! AND...ask your co-workers/family members to enroll too! IMPORTANT: This program requires you to re-enroll every 12-months in order for contributions to continue to go to Laurel Hall School.
2) Amazon Smile: If you log into your Amazon account via www.smile.amazon.com you can select "Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Laurel Hall School" and Amazon will donate money to our school when you make purchases using www.smile.amazon.com.
How easy is that?!
