September 2019

Dear Katherine House Parents and Guardians

Spring is in the air and with its renewed energy, along with the festivities around St Cyprian's Day, the end of Term 3 in Katherine House was full of laughter, fun and thrilling anticipation.

The termly boarders were once again out and about in this beautiful city. They visited the aquarium as well as Kalk Bay, which was recently voted the "coolest town in the world". They took in a show at The Barnyard Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed 'Burn the Floor' at The Baxter Theatre. Their Ethiopian experience at Addis Restaurant - especially the coffee and popcorn ceremony - delighted the girls! For some 'soul' food, our girls enjoyed the quieter moments of exploring their 'green fingers', potting some indoor plants for their rooms.

Our wonderful Katherine House Executive Committee organised a 'cowgirl' evening and a movie night for some sisterly bonding and relaxation. Thank you to you girls for continuing your wonderful leadership right until the end of your tenure.

This term, we also had the pleasure of welcoming our exchange students from Scotland, Japan, Australia and America, which always adds some richness to Katherine House.

After an interesting question and answer session with the Grade 11 boarders, the boarders voted for the Katherine House Executive Committee for 2020, and we wish to congratulate the following girls: Hannah Jacobs (Head of Boarding), Ifechukwu Ludjoe (Deputy Head of Boarding), Shannon Louw, Oatiisa Matiwane and Anulika Paunde. I know you girls are going to make us so proud next year.

As always, I would like to extend a thank you to Rosa and Felicia for all their hard work and dedication this term. I wish you all a wonderful break, and for all those going away, travel safely!

Kind regards
Sharon Greeff

"The woman
came out of a man's rib,
not from his feet to be walked on,
and not from his head to be superior,
but from his side to be equal,
under the arm to be protected,
and next to the heart to be loved.”
