The Supportive Sibling Edition

A story by Instructor Blair Hurley, originally published in Ninth Letter, will be published in the Orison Anthology of spiritually engaged writing. Carolyn Roy-Bornstein's op-ed on foster care "Do I Have To Leave Now?" was published in Cognoscenti. She started the piece in Ethan Gilsdorf's class. Grace Segran's personal essay "South Indian Curry and Pomegranate Chicken" will be published in Woodhall Press' Flash Nonfiction Food Anthology, slated for Spring 2020 release. Instructor Cathie Desjardins led off the Plein Air Poetry Walk at Old Frog Pond Farm and Studio with her poem "Seven Miracles/ Yin Peet's 'Egg,'" which is also featured in the anthology Speaking of Sculpture. 

Incubator Graduate, Instructor, and GrubStreet's Director of Community and Youth Programs Eson Kim received a fellowship to the Studios at MASS MoCA Residency Program for February 2020. She gives special thanks to the Boston Writers of Color group (especially Sharon Gelman and Cynthia Yee) for its generosity in sharing opportunities and for its supportive spirit. Instructor Catherine Parnell's essay, "'Beautiful Joe,' The Dog Who Taught Us Empathy," was published by TenderlyErin Eileen Almond's debut novel Witches' Dance is being published this October by Lanternfish Press. She thanks the writers in her master novel class and Instructor Jenna Blum for her wise counsel and encouragement.

Incubator Graduate and GrubStreet's Capital Campaign Manager Kat Read's essay Split was published in The Hunger. She wrote it in response to a prompt in Vanessa Mártir's The Narcissist's Guide To Essay Revision Online. Heloiza Barbosa's proposal to produce FAXINA, a narrative driven podcast about the ignored stories of Portuguese speaking immigrants, was picked up as runner up by Google Podcast Creators Program among more than 5,000 applicants from around the world. She gives thanks to Instructor Jenn Stanley, in whose class she shaped the proposal.
