1.  CEOs Are Also Endangered at SeaWorld Entertainment

The corner office apparently has a revolving door at SeaWorld Entertainment (NYSE:SEAS). Former Carnival (NYSE:CCL) executive Gus Antorcha stepped down as CEO on Monday, citing disagreements with the theme park operator's board of directors. He lasted less than seven months. If his permanent replacement is tapped before mid-February 2020, that person will become SeaWorld's fifth CEO in two years.

2.  ​​​​​​​IAAPA Expo Europe 2019 Opens in Paris, France

PARIS, France — IAAPA Expo Europe (formerly Euro Attractions Show), the largest international conference and trade show for the leisure and attractions industry in the Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) region, opens today at the Paris Expo Porte De Versailles.

4.  What can we expect from Universal's new Nintendo land?

Universal is teasing what could be an unprecedented level of interactivity in its upcoming Super Nintendo World. But will it improve upon previous attempts to make theme park lands into platforms for interactive play... or will it just offer more of the same?

5.  Beijing's Universal theme park expected to open doors in 2021

The Universal Beijing Resort's official WeChat account has announced the park will open in 2021, bringing China another major international theme park.  The park will be the largest Universal theme park in the world after its construction is completed.  The park project was announced in 2014 and is the fifth Universal theme park and the third in Asia.

6.  3 MORE Cuts Coming Soon to Walt Disney World

Late last week, we were shocked to learn that Disney was making several cuts to their in-park entertainment, including fan favorites like The Muppets Present...Great Moments in History and the Royal Majesty Makers. However, it looks like Disney isn't quite done yet trimming the budget at Walt Disney World, as we have learned about even more changes taking place at Walt Disney World in the next few weeks that could have an impact on your next visit! 

7.  SCAROWINDS EXPERIENCE LEAVES LOCAL MOM HEADED FOR THE EXIT. HER STORY WITH REACTION FROM THE THEME PARK

Carolelynn Zmyslo, of Indian Land, said she told her story on Facebook over the weekend and got comments from people who witnessed the same thing. She said it was the first time experiencing “the spooky fun of Scarowinds” for her and her two daughters, ages 10 and 13. They had also come with some friends who were not season-pass holders.

8.  Peek Behind the Scenes of New Nighttime Spectacular ‘Epcot Forever’

Making its debut in just two weeks, “Epcot Forever” will be an all-new, limited-time spectacle of fireworks, music, lighting, lasers and choreographed special effects kites. The show takes us on a journey through the past, present and future of Epcot, featuring a stirring collection of songs that paint a colorful picture of the park, with a look towards the future and all the magical possibilities still to come.

9.  Gosetto shows gondola of new Liseberg theme ride "Underland" for 2020

In 2020, Liseberg will open the new family theme cruise "Underland". Now the design of the gondolas of the voyage has been revealed, in which Liseberg invests around 14 million euros.

10.  Revitalized Storyland Grand Re-Opening Date Announced

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – A jewel of New Orleans City Park, Storyland plays a special part in the hearts of the children of New Orleans and is a part of the childhood memories of many adults. In Storyland, children can climb aboard Captain Hook’s pirate ship, follow Pinocchio into the mouth of a whale or scamper up Jack & Jill’s hill. 

11.  Kings Island Halloween Haunt opens Friday

The park's Halloween Haunt, voted "Best Theme Park Halloween Event" in the country in 2018 by USA Today readers, opens Friday for its 13th season.
 

12.  Universal: Another day added to 2019 Halloween Horror Nights

Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights just got one day longer. The annual scare fest at Universal Studios theme park has added Monday, Oct. 21, to its schedule.

13.  Cedar Fair Amusement Parks Get an AV Refresh with Reflect and BrightSign

Cedar Fair Entertainment Company – one of the world’s largest operators of amusement parks, water parks and park resort properties – recently updated the guest- facing digital signage networks in its 11 parks located across the U.S. and near Toronto, Ontario.

14.  Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire Goes Spooky for “Screeemfest”

Aimed more towards the big kids and parents is Canobie Lake Park's SCREEEMFEST which runs every weekend from September 21st through October 27th in Salem, New Hampshire.

15.  Kids Flock to 15th Annual PALpalooza at Pacific Park

September 17, 2019 -- On Friday, hundreds of kids from Police Activities League (CalPAL) chapters across Southern California were treated to a free fun-filled evening at Pacific Park.

16.  The Count’s Spooktacular brings Halloween fun to Busch Gardens Williamsburg

On Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 5-27, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., kids ages 9 and younger and dress up in their Halloween costumes, experience a themed hay maze, and see their favorite Sesame Street characters in their new Halloween-inspired costumes.

17.  Busch Gardens' Oldest Male Gorilla "Sim Sim" Dies

TAMPA, Fla. – Sim Sim, the oldest male gorilla at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, has died, the theme park announced Tuesday.

1.  South Park Branded Escape Room Expands to Los Angeles and Will Debut on Tuesday, September 17

Additional South Park: Cartman’s Escape Rooms to Open in New York and Boston This Fall  South Park Season 23 to Premiere on Wednesday, September 25 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.  South Park: Cartman’s Escape Room will make its Los Angeles debut on September 17, with additional openings in New York and Boston this fall.

2.  The Price to Build Herzog & de Meuron’s New Modern Art ‘Barn’ Museum in Berlin Has More Than Doubled From Its Initial Estimate of €200 Million

The opening date for Berlin’s planned Museum der Moderne is still a long way off, but the project has already become a lot more expensive.  During a budgetary meeting with members of German parliament, the country’s culture minister, Monika Grütters, more than doubled the estimated bill for the “first-class museum” to more than €450M.

3.  Crave Golf Club in the Smoky Mountains rated best in the nation

Travel.com has rated Crave Golf Club as the #1 mini-putt course in the USA.  There are 38 different holes at the candy-themed, 18,500 square foot family fun center. Courses are located inside, outside and on the rooftops of the building, providing customers with scenic views of the Smokies.

4.  We Asked Madame Tussauds Everything You've Ever Wondered About Celebrity Waxworks

We were all struck by the major news last month that Cheryl Cole/Fernandez-Versini had her waxwork removed from the main exhibition at Madame Tussauds, allegedly as she is 'no longer relevant', according to The Sun. Ouch.  She does still have a statue in Blackpool, and removed celebs get put into storage, not melted down as we feared.

5.  FEG In The Game Freedom Station Hosts Grand Reopening Fête In AZ

 In The Game Freedom Station celebrated the grand reopening of its fully-renovated family entertainment center here with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 5.  Formerly called Freedom Station Family Fun Center, In The Game Freedom Station underwent extensive interior and exterior renovation. New attractions have been added, as well as a brand-new restaurant.

6.  Location-based VR is hot — but is it right for you?

In 2018 virtual reality hit the trough of disillusionment. Home use hadn’t proven itself in terms of payback for most of the developers despite a few well-received releases like Beat Saber. But this wasn’t a bad thing — dumb money stopped being invested in the industry. The VR market seen its niches stabilize: VR training in the enterprise sector, and location-based arcades in entertainment.

7.  Oman- Climbing feature to be removed from Bounce following accident

After a ten year old Omani boy met with an accident at the wall climbing activity of trampoline park Bounce last week, the company has said that it is considering closing down the climbing feature at the park.

8.  Wizard Golf: A magical new crazy golf course is teeing off in Edinburgh

Potterheads are never short of fun activities to do in Edinburgh, and now a wizard-themed crazy golf course has appeared.  Wizard Golf is part of a new experience launching on Blair Street next month from the makers of the Department of Magic escape room.

9.  Urban Putt Mini Golf Course Opens In Downtown Denver

DENVER, CO — After $5 million in renovations and additions, Urban Putt indoor mini golf course opened Monday in Denver's old Spaghetti Factory. The new attraction has two nine-hole courses and lots of unique features, including a bar, according to reports.

10.  British Museum and Samsung announce 35,000 places for SDDC virtual visits

The British Museum and Samsung have reopened the new Samsung Digital Discovery Centre, also announcing a digital learning programme for teenagers, and 35,000 places for school children across the UK to virtually visit.

1.  Glide down the world’s longest mountain water slide which is nearly 3 km long

Anyone who likes water parks or similar venues would probably love to have a go on this: the world's longest mountain/hillside water slide.  The record-breaking slide, located in Lishui, China, is 2723.08 m (8,933 ft 11 in) long with waterway winding its way down the side of Puhuasi Mountain.

2.  Mexico’s posh water park where there are virtually no queues and you can have spa treatments

GRAB your swimming costumes and head to Mexico where a new luxury water park boasts virtually no queues and spa treatments.  The 'theme park for adults' is just just 45 minutes from Cancun, found just outside Playa del Carmen.

3.  Water park makes a splash!

A ONE-OF-A-KIND variety show, exciting prizes and surprises are part of a 12th anniversary celebration of a water park this weekend.  Celebrations at The Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park (LPOD) coincide with the Saudi National Day which falls on September 23, the last day of the event.

4.  State-of-the-art aquatic center slated to open in November

A new huge aquatic center along 40th Avenue next to Chesterly Park in Yakima has people waiting anxiously for it to open.  That day was slated for next month, but it has once again been pushed back.  Action News go a sneak peak at this one-of-kind place, revealing there's more than just an indoor pool with slides.

5.  Great Wolf Lodge responds to social media buzz of location near Raleigh

Could Great Wolf Lodge be making a splash in the Triangle? Rumors are circulating again that an indoor water park could be planted in the Garner area.  There is a large parcel of land in the White Oaks community that's available. There is a sign up saying more than 300 acres is open and ready for commercial space. There have been rumblings the recreation park would be placed there.

1.  Monterey Bay Aquarium's new Bechtel Family Center offers deep dive into learning

An ambitious project is breathing new life into the Monterey Bay Aquarium and fueling new opportunities for young people to pursue science-related careers. The 25,500-square-foot, four-story Bechtel Family Center for Ocean Education and Leadership is the most significant expansion to the facility in more than 20 years.

2.  Giraffe exhibit and feedings to be closed until further notice at Naples Zoo

Tomorrow, the Giraffe exhibit and feedings at the Naples Zoo will be closed.  The zoo is starting construction to renovate the area, which means the area will be closed to the public.  Right now, there is no word when the exhibit will reopen to the public.

3.  Sedgwick County Zoo begins demolition on Asian Barn

The demolition of Sedgwick County Zoo’s Asian Barn starts today.  The Asian Barn, inside the Children’s Farm area, was one of the first buildings at the zoo.  According to staff, it will be gone by the end of the week.

4.  Giant panda's sudden death in Thai zoo sparks Chinese investigation

A beloved giant panda on loan to Thailand has died suddenly in a northern Thai zoo, prompting an investigation by Chinese experts.  Chuang Chuang, a 19-year-old male giant panda, was given to the Southeast Asian country in 2003 "to represent the relationship between China and Thailand," along with a female panda, Lin Hui, according to Chiang Mai Zoo's website.

5.  Henry Vilas Zoo maintains AZA Accreditation

Madison’s Henry Vilas Zoo renewed its accreditation with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums on Sept. 6. According to the AZA’s website, less than 10% of about 2,800 wildlife exhibitors are accredited by the AZA.

6.  Bye bye birdies: Zoo Knoxville penguins move to Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies

Zoo Knoxville's four African penguins moved Tuesday to Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg.  The birds were placed in crates Tuesday morning and driven in a zoo sports utility vehicle to the aquarium. There, the quartet was met with a red carpet leading into Ripley's. The penguins were pulled in a wagon or carried by zookeepers into the aquarium.

7.  Baton Rouge zoo attendance rising

After years of faltering attendance numbers, visitors to the Baton Rouge Zoo is rising, according to stats attached to the agenda for Wednesday’s BREC Board of Commissioners meeting.   Through August, more than 125,000 people have visited the zoo this year—up 6.7% from the same period in 2018. Sparking the growth are year-over increases in general admission and school-related attendance.

8.  Lion Cub Will Make Public Debut At Denver Zoo On Wednesday

The lion cub born at the Denver Zoo in July will make his public debut Wednesday. Visitors will be able to see the new cub explore his outdoor habitat in Benson Predator Ridge from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every day, as long as the weather cooperates.

9.  Florida Aquarium CEO appointed to Southwest Florida Water Management District

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed a Tampa Bay area executive to the Southwest Florida Water Management District Tuesday.  Roger Germann is President and CEO of the Florida Aquarium in the downtown Tampa Channel District.

10.  Florida Aquarium's coral breeding program success prompts major expansion

For the first time ever, scientists at the Florida Aquarium were successful in prompting Atlantic Coral to reproduce in a laboratory.  The breakthrough earlier this summer is now being followed by plans to greatly expand the program in hopes of repopulating the dying reef in the Florida Keys.

3.  Jellystone Park camping resort to open near Dayton in 2020

A Jellystone Park camping resort is expected to open near Dayton next year.  A development deal was signed for the new location of Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts, according to BusinessWire.com.There are five other Jellystone Parks in Ohio, including one that opened this spring at Hocking Hills in Nelsonville.

DIXON, Illinois -- Fifteen years after President Ronald Reagan's death, the nonprofit that runs his boyhood home and visitors center in Dixon is at risk of closing its doors.
