Hi everyone
A quick reminder about the events this week:

XR Shrewsbury’s “Funeral Procession for the Planet”
Thursday 19th September, assemble at 8.30-8.45am, in the Market Square.
We will walk together to Shirehall, wearing black (if possible), carrying a coffin and accompanied by a slow drum beat, as we mourn the countless species that are already dying and will die in the Sixth Mass Extinction. We will assemble outside Shirehall to call on Shropshire Council to act on its declaration of a climate emergency by taking wise and courageous leadership rather than making empty pledges (essentially there has been no progress since their declaration in May).

Public Meeting with Daniel Kawczynski MP
Thursday 19th September, 7 - 9pm, at Meole Brace Peace Memorial Hall, SY3 9EX
Our Shrewsbury MP says: “Please come and join me for a questions and answers session”. So let’s make sure there are plenty of questions about the climate and ecological emergency!  It might be wise to arrive early and just be a concerned resident rather than going as a group ;-)

The Global Climate/Earth Strike:
Young people involved with the regular school/youth strikes are calling on all adults to join them on Friday 20th September (and if possible, the following Friday too). In Shrewsbury, the schedule is:
11am - Meet up in Market Square - Music and speech from Callum, selfies with Greta
12:00 - Move to Pride Hill for picnic (bring some grub to share). Need some volunteers to hand out cake and leaflets please.
12:45 - Speeches and music (TV and Papers)
Friends of the Earth, Lib Dems, NEU, Greens, XR Youth, Labour, XR Shrewsbury (Conservatives invited but no reply)
2pm - Earth March through Town visiting both college campuses.
It would be wonderful if lots of us could participate in solidarity with young people and make this huge. If you can only get out of work for one hour, then prioritise joining us between 12.30-1.30pm on Pride Hill. Bring your workmates and friends, banners/placards, picnic rugs and food to share. As Greta Thunberg said at the UN Climate Summit last December: “Since our leaders are behaving like children, we will have to take the responsibility they should have taken long ago.”

XR Shrewsbury Meeting
Wednesday 25th September, 7 - 9pm at the Unison Club, Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, SY2 6LY.
A chance to reflect on recent actions including the Global Climate Strike and the funeral procession for the planet, and to finalise plans for supporting the Rebellion both on the ground in London and through a “Home Front”, engaging in practical solidarity in Shropshire.
