Sept. 19 KBAD Meeting Agenda
|
|
Join us at the Kyle Public Library on Sept. 19, 6:15 p.m.–7:45 p.m.
The Kyle/Buda-Area Democrats will meet on Sept. 19 to discuss changes to elections in Hays County and updates on upcoming canvassing efforts. We will also host some special guest speakers and discuss creating a scholarship committee.
Agenda Item Overview
Mom's Demand Action
Presentation by Laura Leggett from the Wimberley chapter of Moms Demand Action and discussion about starting a Kyle/Buda chapter.
Polling Sites and Elections
An update will be provided about the new countywide polling sites, voting machines and the new Citizens Elections Commission.
Canvassing Tools
Robbie Ness from Civitech will discuss how to use Map the Vote and Register2Vote.org in canvassing efforts.
Scholarship Committee
The KBAD board wants to create a scholarship fund to benefit area high school students. We need volunteers to serve on this committee, which will be tasked with studying the feasibility and providing recommendations about scholarship amounts, fundraising, eligibility requirements, and criteria for how to award the scholarships.
End-of-Summer Volunteer Extravaganza
Lacy Waller will discuss plans for a block walk and volunteer celebration on Saturday, Sept. 28, in Buda. The block walk will focus on voter education before the November elections. A pool party will take place after the block walk.
