Northwich is going to get a little wackier next year as the town welcomes a brand new event on Sunday 14th June 2020 in the form of a SoapBox Derby.

The event will be held on Castle Hill with an event village and viewing within Verdin Park. The event is the first of its kind to be held in the town and will be free for visitors to watch.

Thousands of spectators are expected from all over Cheshire and beyond to cheer on the weird, wacky and wonderful SoapBox entrants who can enjoy watching carefully crafted karts being hurtled down a track which will consist of chicanes, obstacles, water features and more.

Now here’s where you could potentially come in…

The event is looking for 40-50 teams to enter the race in a knock out style competition with trophies going to fastest winner, best dressed, most innovative design and more. Teams are encouraged to raise as much money as possible for charity with this year’s Shrewsbury Wacky Races seeing teams raise over £20,000 for a variety of causes.

This autumn, the Totally Locally initiative is running Fiver Fest, a campaign centred around promoting independent shops and businesses.

It will run from Saturday 5^th to Saturday 12^th October and encourages businesses to run deals or offers for £5 throughout the week of the initiative to celebrate independent shops and encourage people to visit them.

It has proved to be very successful in numerous towns around the country with the shops taking part reporting additional footfall in their stores which is great for raising awareness of their goods and products.

Get ready to expect the unexpected in Northwich this autumn.

That’s because Now Northwich returns to town on Saturday 5^th October with amazing activities and performances lined up for the whole family.

Throughout the town artists, performers and musicians will wow crowds with spectacular shows of creativity and flair.

There will be dancing, acrobatics, singing, theatrical rides, giant games, comedy and puppetry, while the event will culminate with a jaw-dropping evening procession.

This weekend sees the return of the Northwich Beer, Drinks and Music Festival at the Memorial Court.

On both Friday and Saturday night attendees will be able to enjoy over 50 beers, 20 ciders, gin and prosecco, while entertainment will be provided by two great bands.

Tijuana Death Squad will play on the first night while Beaver will take to the stage on Saturday.

The festival will be split into three sessions:
